2010 Top Draft pick Taylor Hall excited for new season with Edmonton Oilers –NHL offseason Update
Edmonton Oilers were expected to make it big last season when they were given the first overall pick during the 2010 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft, in which they chose the top prospect, Taylor Hall, but due to a series of unfortunate circumstances,
Hall was injured and Edmonton remained down and out.
Playing only 65 regular season matchups and missing nearly 20, 19-year-old Taylor Hall did not achieve all that he wished to do, due to an unexpected ankle injury which cut his season short, but he still impressed the management and scored the highest number
of goals on the team, 22, for a total of 42 points, including 20 assists.
According to Hall, he is ready to take on the next season and thinks that his ankle has healed up properly. He addressed the issue and expressed his desires to the media on Monday during a 3-on-3 tournament which was set up by Montreal Canadiens assistant
coach, Perry Pearn.
"My ankle healed up really well. It almost feels stronger than the other one, just because I worked on it so much", Hall told the Oilers' web site and other media Monday. "I haven't had any problems".
Fortunately for Edmonton, their lowest ranking status in the league did not go in vain. They were again given the chance to select first in the entry draft and choosing the best was their aim. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was drafted first overall and is expected
to be highly productive once given a chance on the ice.
"I think you're just going to see improvements in parts of my game", said Hall. "I'm expecting to be a major contributor this year and to improve. Defensively, my plus-minus wasn't that great last year. I think just being more used to the systems and the
way they play in the NHL is going to help a lot".
With Taylor Hall and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the same team, Edmonton is expected to create an unstoppable shooting duo that will easily land them in a playoff spot next time around. Both players are eager to start the season, which just goes to show how dedicated
they really are.
