2010 World Cup: Brazil v Ivory Coast half time report
Brazil 1 Ivory Coast 0
Brazil are on course to finish this evening on top of Group G after taking a 1-0 half-time lead over Ivory Coast in Johannesburg.
Luis Fabiano ended his barren spell in style by scoring midway through the first half, during a match which promised much but has delivered little so far.
The match burst into life initially with Robinho shooting over from 30-yards after just 42 seconds on the clock. From then on in, however, both teams were hampered by sloppy play.
The match was finally sparked into life on the 24th minute when the largely ineffectual Kaka released Fabiano inside the box. The striker found himself one-on-one with Boubacar Barry and rifled his shot emphatically into the roof of the net to score one of the best goals of the tournament so far.
Sven Goran Eriksson's men are yet to trouble Julio Cesar in the Brazil goal, with Didier Drogba being stifled comfortably by Lucio and co.
They will need to bring the iconic Ivorian into the match during the second half to have any chance of rescuing something from this match. The Brazilians, meanwhile, are looking effortlessly comfortable so far.
