2010 World Cup: Chile v Switzerland half time report

Chile 0 Switzerland 0

Switzerland are currently holding Chile at half time 0-0 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

Switzerland have been reduced to 10 men, when the returning Valon Behrami was given a straight red card for a failing arm at Arturo Vidal, although rather like Kaka’s red last night the contact on the Chilean was not serious.

Switzerland began the game like they did against Spain, putting men behind the ball and playing on the counter attack.

Now they will be even more defensive thanks to the red card.

Chile had a couple of decent chances, with Swiss Goalkeeper Diego Benaglio pulling off two saves in quick time from Vidal and Carlos Carmona on 10 minutes.

The first half was a stop-start affair, with the referee pulling out four yellows and one red, with 24 fouls being committed.

Switzerland have it all to do if they are to hold on to get a point, because if anyone looks like scoring it’s Chile.
