2010 World Cup: England v Algeria half time report
England 0 Algeria 0
England are level with Algeria at half time in this Group C encounter at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town.
With Robert Green dropped and replaced by David James, England have struggled and were unable to get any real momentum going.
Algeria on the balance of play deserve to be all square, as they kept the ball well, with England barely putting any pressure.
England looked edgy and very nervous, and a lack of communication in the defence was showing, with Jamie Carragher almost diverting past his own keeper.
Karim Ziani had a solid first half for Algeria, with neat touches and a good run down the left resulting in a shot pulled wide of the target.
Despite England not playing well at all, Frank Lampard should have given them the lead on 32 minutes. An Aaron Lennon cross was headed straight out into the path of the Chelsea man, but his left-footed shot inside the box was well saved by Algerian keeper Raïs M’Bohli.
England manager Fabio Capello has a tough team talk to give at the break, because England did not look convincing at all.
