2010 World Cup Honduras v Chile half time report
Honduras 0 Chile 1
Jean Beausejour’s goal has given Chile a deserved lead at the midway point of their Group H fixture with Honduras at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
Club América forward Beausejour popped up at the near post to convert a Maurico Isla cross just 10 minutes before the break, following an excellent ball from playmaker Matías Fernandez.
The lead is the least that this forward-thinking Chile team deserve, following a half that has seen them dominate and carve out several openings.
The quicksilver 21-year-old Alexis Sánchez has been at the heart of almost all of their good work, and had earlier set up Jorge Valdivia to shoot wide, while defender Arturo Vidal also tested Honduras goalkeeper Noel Valladares twice from long range.
The Hondurans have offered little, although Ramon Nunez did come close with a free kick late on, while Sánchez also came close to doubling the Chileans’ lead.
