2010 World Cup Ivory Coast v North Korea half time report

Ivory Coast 2 Noth Korea 0

The so called impossible task for Ivory Coast, remains possible at half time, as they chase Portugal for the all important second place in Group E.

Before the game Ivory Coast required a nine-goal turnaround with Portugal, but the deficit has now been reduced to just seven, with goals from Yaya Toure and Romaric.

Right from the off Ivory Coast were relentless in their pursuit for goals, Didier Drogba had a goal disallowed minutes before Toure curled home an impressive opener.

The Elephants worked the ball well down the left before the on-rushing Toure showed all his class by cleverly whipping the ball into the corner from the edge of the area.

Ivory Coast doubled their lead minutes later, the record books will show Romaric got the goal - but Drogba deserves all the credit.

The Chelsea striker took down a floated cross, before hammering a half volley against the underside of the bar, and Romaric was on hand to head home the rebound.

North Korea have failed to show anything of note as they look to be bowing out of the World Cup with a whimper. Ivory Coast on the other hand, look very dangerous every time they enter the Korean half.

Gervinho hit a post, Drogba headed over and Eboue fired wide, more of the same in the second half and they may get close to reaching the impossible nine goal haul.
