2010 World Cup Soccer: Uruguay Coach Oscar Tabarez applying the right strategies
The Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez has affirmed that their match against South Africa could be their key to the door for the next round. He told that if Celeste was able to defeat the home-landers ‘Bafana Bafana’, their chances of entering into the next round would be almost guaranteed.

There is a stale mate occurring in Group A. After round one of stage one, each team in the group is sitting on just one point and the situation seems to be intensifying in the batch. For Uruguay, the toughest game of the stage resulted in a draw.

With that match gone, Tabarez and his men know that now they have a pretty good chance of entering into the next stage. Tabarez however is also wary of the fact that Bafana have their home ground advantage and that can lead into a massive turn over. Their home crowd has already shown their fanatic support for the team and the ‘vuvuzela’s’ are sure to lead that charge.

Tabarez admitted in a press conference at Pretoria's Loftus Versveld stadium, “We know that it is going to be very difficult, we know that if we win it we are going to take a giant step forward”. He then added, "The group is not one of death, but one which any team could progress from. The story is yet to be written”.

Tabarez told that he had a strategy to encounter France and that was why the team was able to accomplish their task despite being a man down. The coach claimed that he had a plan for the South Africans. He told that he exploited the one-man individual show of France and that was their main reason for the victory.

The legendary French midfielder Zinedine Zidane also thought along the same lines. While talking to media, the retired star explained that the reason for a goalless draw was that all players in the team wanted to act alone and make plays of their own.

This certainly has been the reason for the dismissal performance by Les Bleus in recent days. The French had a number of reserves which played as forwards and in the end, the few chances they got were muddled between the lot. It was a classic case of too many cooks spoiling the broth as everybody came forward to exploit the advantage of the 10-men Celeste team.

Zidane told media, “The problem is that we have seen too many individuals. They wanted to differentiate themselves, but it is the collective who get results from matches like that”.

The already infamous coach of France, Domenech Raymond is being asked about what his plans and strategy was for the match. The French Football Association has reasoned with Domenech on the issue and the man on the country most beloved posts is fast becoming the most hated man in the country.

Zidane on the issue related, “He selected the players and, at some point, it is necessary that this team gets to play together. It's the players who must move and do something to change that”.

Zidane advised the team to show more unity ad chemistry between them saying, “We need this team to play together. A World Cup is very short. Some will perhaps never play again. Therefore, he should put his ego aside and work for the collective team. This is not what we saw in the last game”.

The Celeste’s coach is on the right track with his strategies working in the World Cup and the qualifying stages. The main players that will make Uruguay win will be their centre back Diego Godin and their forward Diego Forlan. If these two excel further on in the tournament, the Celeste will have a much easier task to victories.
