A number of professionals made it through the first round of the 2010 World Women's Squash Open held at the Soho Square, Egypt. On the contrary, some of the professionals were made to go back home. Nevertheless,
the show must go on, as those to have made it through prepare to compete in the round to follow.
Amongst those to have advanced was France's Camille Serme. Netherlands’ Annelize Naudé was on the losing end, as the Frenchwoman defeated her 14-12, 11-4 and 11-4 in the second, third and fourth deciding set
before losing the first set 9-11.
Unfortunately for Ireland's Aisling Blake, her journey in the Squash Open came to an end as she lost 11-3, 13-11 and 11-1, three sets in a row to England's Laura Massaro. In contrast to which, New Zealand's Jaclyn
Hawkes came out victorious against Australia's Donna Urquhart by defeating her 11-5, 11-5 and 11-3, in a brief 28-minute match.

Seeded No. 5 at the tournament, Ireland's Madeline Perry got rid of Malaysia's Delia Arnold, thrashing her 12-10, 11-9 and 11-5, in straight sets to make a place for herself in the next round. USA's Natalie Grainger
crushed England's Sarah Kippax 11-5, 5-11, 11-2 and 11-6, dropping only one set.
Kanzy El-Defrawy lost at home to England's Allison Waters in a short 21-minute match. Waters defeated El-Defrawy 11-2, 11-2 and 11-3 to advance at the championship. Similarly, Egypt's Nour El-Tayeb was thrashed

The Asians seem to be progressing well as Malaysia's Low Wee Wern toughed it out to beat Netherlands’ Natalie Grinham 11-9, 9-11, 7-11, 11-7 and 13-11 in an arduous five-set match. Apart from which, Frenchwoman
Isabelle Stoehr beat Mexico's Samantha Teran 11-8, 12-10 and 11-3, three sets in a row to proceed to the following round.
