2010 the St. Petersburg Open; Preview of the evening session on Thursday
The 27-year-old Lu Yen Hsun and Dmitry Tursunov will play the third match of the day at the 2010 St. Petersburg Open Men’s singles competition in Russia.
World number 34, Lu who made his debut on the ATP World Tour back in 2001 enters with a match record of 15-18 on the season. He has so far reached the quarter final round in Johannesburg and Wimbledon earlier this season. Lu achieved his current highest
ranking of world number thirty four on October 25th 2010.
The Taipei resident who is still looking for his first singles title on the ATP tour posted the biggest victory of his career at this season’s grass court Grand Slam tournament in London as he got the better of world number five Robin Soderling of Sweden
in the fourth round of Wimbledon with a final score line of 4-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 9-7. The battle was concluded in a time period of four hours and thirty six minutes in London.
Lu, as a result of this victory made his way into his very first quarter final round of a Grand Slam tournament. He made it into the final eight after beating Horacio Zeballos, Michal Przysiezny and Florian Mayer.
Lu will be looking for his first victory versus Tursunov on the tour who has triumphed in their both past clashes in straight sets. He is attempting to make his way into his third ATP World Tour level quarter-final of the season.
The professional tennis player from Russia, Tursunov who recorded his season best result by reaching the quarter final round at the Japan Open in Tokyo enters with a match record of 4-7 on the year. The right handed is currently ranked number 264 in the
South African Airways 2010 ATP list. He has so far won a total of six single titles in his career.
In the evening session, Mikhail Youzhny will take on Evgeny Donskoy, a qualifier from Russia on the very first occasion in his career.
The professional tennis player from Russia, Mikhail Youzhny has captured two titles so far in 2010 at Munich after getting the better of Cilic and Kuala Lumpur after thrashing out Golubev in the title battle. The 28-year-old also made his way into the final
in Rotterdam, Dubai and semi final at the United States Open in New York, along with his quarter final appearances in ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Miami, Roland Garros and Gstaad this season.
He stands at a match record of 40-17 on the year and is currently ranked number ten in the South African Airways 2010 ATP list. The right hander who made his debut on the ATP World tour back in 1999 achieved his career high ranking of world number eight
back in 2008. He is looking for his eighth career title on the tour.
Mikhail stands at a career mark of 21-7 in Petersburg. He won the title here back in 2004 and is attempting to reach his ninth ATP World Tour quarter final or better in 2010.
The 20-year-old Donskoy, on the other hand, stands at a win loss record of 1-1 on the season and is currently ranked number 260 in the South African Airways 2010 ATP list. He is definitely the weaker of the two, however, the Moscow resident will try his
level best to put up a good fight up till the end. He is eyeing his first lifetime ATP World Tour quarter-final.
Two other matches on court will feature Paul Henri Mathieu and Benjamin Becker of Germany, whereas Hanescu will face Rajeev Ram, a qualifier from Germany on the very first occasion in his career.
