2011/2012 Ligue 1 round up: Week 2 - Ligue 1 special (Part 1)
2011/12 Ligue 1 week-2 ended with big surprises as defending champions LOSC Lille Metropole were stunned by Montpellier Herault SC, while newly promoted Evian TG managed to bag their first ever Ligue 1 win. Big spenders Paris Saint-Germain once again failed
to secure three points.
Jonathan Pitroipa crash big spenders’ first win
Paris Saint-Germain were brought down by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Lorient-c39153 with a 0-1 loss in their opening game as they entered Stade de la Route de Lorient. After a dominated first half by Rennes at Stade de la Route de Lorient, the score remained level thanks to an outstanding
goalkeeping display by Italian international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Gameiro-c20721 converted Jeremy Menez’s cross in the 73rdminute.
The home team did not lose hope and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-Pitroipa-c19052 beat the offside trap and went on to score the equaliser with just 2 minutes remaining on the clock, drawing the score level at 1-1.
PSG take 13th spot ahead of defending champions Lille whereas Rennes hold the 5th position in standings.
Toulouse in lead
Toulouse faced newly promoted Dijon at home in Stadium Municipal. The home team were quiet confident after beating newly promoted AC Ajaccio 2-0 in their opening game.
Toulouse dictated the game with 63 percent of the possession and kept on bombarding the Dijon goal, but were kept out by debutant goalkeeper Baptiste Reynet.
After keeping a clean sheet in the first half, Reynet had no answer for slack defending from the Burgundy club as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Franck-Tabanou-c14046 was brought down in the box
by Cedric Varrault. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paulo-Machado-c29453 stepped up to score his second goal in two matches to end the game at 2-0. Toulouse lead the table after week-2 and Dijon stand at the bottom of the table with zero points.
Former Sochaux players haunt Sochaux to seal victory.
A thrilling encounter took place at Stade Auguste Bonal as FC Sochaux-Montbeliard took on Stade Malherbe Caen.
Former players of Sochaux-Montbeliard, Romain Hamouma and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pierre-c29989 Alain-Frau, scored a goal each to snatch a 2-1 victory from their former club.
Stade Malherbe Caen took an early lead in the 15th minute after a fabulous run by Hamouma. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 67th minute as Frau edged past goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Teddy-Richert-c34753 to take the score line to 2-0.
The home team desperately tried to come back but were unlucky on many occasions. In the 93rd minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryad-Boudebouz-c31970 sent a spectacular ball past goalkeeper Alexis Thebaux, who had no chance but to look in amazement.
In a final attempt, the home team desperately tried to equalise but were denied by the 26-year-old goalkeeper. The final score remained at 2-1.
After the second week games, Sochaux stand at 11th spot and Caen flare at third position behind Montpellier and Toulouse.
Woodwork ruins Lyon’s advance
In Stade de Gerland, Olympique Lyon were stunned by the newly promoted AC Ajaccio in the 59th minute following a dry first half. Frederic Sammaritano took AC Ajaccio ahead with a great cross from Christian Kinkela. Lyon had terrible luck with
the woodwork as the dominant home team could not find a ball in.
Les Gones’ unstoppable attempts finally paid off as Bosnian playmaker Miralem Pjanic’s ball was headed by Lisandro Lopez past the finger tips of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guillermo-Ochoa-c15350 to equalise with just 7 minutes remaining. Despite their tries, the Rhone club could not find
the back of the net again and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
After going through a bad day, Lyon are placed at the 6th position whereas AC Ajaccio are ahead of OGC Nice at 18th position.
