2011/2012 Ligue 1 season: Week-one round up - Ligue 1 special
LOSC Lille Metropole will be defending their http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130. With Paris Saint-Germain, building momentum waiting to unleash, have already intimidated other clubs. This 2011/2012
Ligue 1 Championship promises to be one that can’t be missed.
This is how Ligue 1 started in its first week…
Still a lot to be done
Paris St. Germain had a disastrous start to their campaign on August 6, 2011, when they faced a humiliating 1-0 defeat at home to a weakened Lorient side. The huge transfers that made them the Ligue title favourites for this season didn’t seem to pay off
as they were outclassed at home.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Julien-Quercia-c19945 scored in the 28th minute, giving Lorient the one goal which in the end proved to be enough to condemn Antoine Kombouare’s side to an embarrassing loss.
Les Gones but mature enough to get a good win
A solid 3-1 win at Nice by Lyon gave them much wanted confidence at the start of the campaign, taking them to the top of the table on Day 1. An early goal in the sixth minute mark gave the home team a lead which lasted only four minutes until Lisandro Lopez
scored a beautiful equaliser in the 10 minute.
The visitors then moved in to the lead in 33rd minute thanks to a Bafetimbi Gomis goal.  Youth academy graduate, Maxim Gonalons, sealed their win in 74th minute making the score sheet 3-1.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 Stunned by Montpellier Herault SC
Montpellier Herault SC shared the top spot at the table with Lyon after they too won 3-1 against Auxerre, though, their performance wasn’t as convincing. Auxerre were unlucky not to score more than a goal since they had plenty of chances.
Champions draw
Champions Lille lost their lead after Franck Beria’s own goal in the 61st minute, cancelling Mathieu Debuchy’s opener in the 46th minute, ending the match in a 1-1 draw.
A thriller at Stade Velodrome
Loic Remy managed to salvage a point for Marseille in a 2-2 draw with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Sochaux-Montbéliard-c39217 at Stade Velodrome. Lucho Gonzalez was able to show his worth by scoring the first in the 38th minute.
Goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Nogueira-c36189 for Sochaux threatened to upset, but Remy came to the rescue just four minutes later.
A good introduction for Evian
Ligue 2 Champions Evian TG ended up drawing with the Stade Brestois 29 after taking a two-goal lead. Evian got a dream start by scoring two goals inside 20 minutes as skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olivier-Sorlin-c28517 and Ali MMadi struck.
Brest came back sharp and equalised just before half time as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bruno-c8098 Grougi and Benoit Lesoimier scored a goal apiece.
A Proment scorcher
Caen had managed to survive relegation on the final day of last season and showed some signs of improvement as they opened their Ligue 1 season with a 1-0 win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valenciennes-FC-c40865.
Gregory Proment scored a magnificent goal in the 34th minute. The midfielder took a shot from 30 yards as it rocketed past the goalkeeper in the top corner of the net, making it a contender for goal of the season.
Easy win for Toulouse FC
AC Ajaccio’s first Ligue 1 appearance after five years didn’t manage to scrap points at the start of the season as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paulo-Machado-c29453 scored a goal apiece on either side of the interval to end the game 2-0.

A rout by the Bretons
The newly promoted Dijon FCO were facing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stade-Rennais-FC-c40612 at home on Sunday August 7, 2011. Dijon desperately tried to take an early lead in the game but to no avail. Rennes managed to score twice even after a penalty missed by Julien Feret.
The visitors were too hot to handle as they scored 5 goals in full time, whereas Dijon managed to scarp one, just before half time. Rennes Lead the Ligue 1 table ahead of Lyon and Montpellier Herault.
Saint-Etienne breaks the jinx
The big game of day 2 of the first week of the Championelle was between Girondins de Bordeaux and AS Saint-Etienne. Confusion among Bordeaux ranks saw Ciani score an own goal in the 18th minute of the game. ASSE were quick to take advantage of the demoralized
Bordeaux side and scored their second goal in the 31st minute.
Bordeaux managed to score off a penalty in the second half but couldn’t return from the early shock.
For 20 years, Les Verts had not managed to win their first game of the campaign. However, thanks to a strong performance by the Rhone club, Saint-Etienne finally broke their two-decade long jinx.
