2011/2012 summer transfer window team – Wingers (Part 5)
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Samir-Nasri-c32360 and Cesc Fabregas were rumoured to be leaving the club.
Arsenal desperately needed someone to perform on the flanks so they can take advantage of Samir Nasri in the midfield. Last season the Frenchman played on the right flank for most of the games while Cesc Fabregas and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aaron-Ramsey-c3065 appeared in the centre attacking
midfield role.
Samir Nasri has been tested in Cesc Fabregas’ position a few times and he is able to hold the ball well and move it throughout the pitch. He is an extraordinary play maker who also tends to score goals while moving up the flank. Samir Nasri is definitely
an asset for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger realized the fact that he needs to be played in the centre of the pitch.
As Cesc Fabregas is now the only Arsenal player rumoured to be leaving the club, Arsenal penetrated the transfer market and signed the Ivorian winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gervinho-c14755. The former Lille winger did wonders with the French club last season and he is definitely going
to do wonders for the English side as well.
Gervinho is not famous for his goal scoring figures but for what he provides the team with. As Arsenal are a side who rely too much on passing and moving the ball around, Gervinho is a perfect fit for them even though he plays on the left flank.
With Gervinho in the squad, it means that Arsenal have a player on the left flank while the right flank can be taken by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 as both of them can perform over there.
The Dutch striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 is injury prone but he is definitely going to stay in the centre forward position as he cannot stop scoring goals for the Premier League side. Arsenal rely too much on Persie whenever it comes down to scoring goals and
even though http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marouane-Chamakh-c24294 is a good aerial threat for the opposition, there is no doubt that Robin Van Persie is one of the best strikers in the English Premier League.
As Gervinho is now a part of the Arsenal starting line-up, it means that he is going to play on the left flank juts like he did back in his days at Lille.
Gervinho had a good last season with Lille and the Ivorian appeared 53 times for the French club in a single season. With so many appearances in one season, it means that the Ivorian is not injury prone and he might not get injured in the English Premier
League – the most physical league in the world.
Gervinho appeared 35 times in the French League last season and he managed to score 15 goals and gave out 10 assists as well. He appeared 8 times in the French Cup and scored 3 times in the competition. Furthermore, he gave 10 appearances in the Europa League
but he didn’t score in a single game.
Gervinho is a good signing for Arsenal and the North London side bought him for 10.5 million Pounds.
