2011 AFC Title game: Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice boasts QB Joe Flacco's form – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens’ quarterback, Joe Flacco, is one of the few players in the National Football League (NFL), who do not need an outside opinion in approval of their boasts of being the leading players in the league, but the QB has found
an uninvited supporting voice within the team, and he is running back, Ray Rice.
Ray has cited the performance of the veteran QB in the American Football Conference (AFC) championship game of the 2011 season, saying the player outplayed his counterpart, Tom Brady, New England Patriots’ quarterback.
Ravens lost the game to Patriots, but the RB said it was not due to Joe’s performance. He said the QB was the real story of the game irrespective of their unfortunate defeat.
He said:
"It was his show. It was his show on offense, and as much credit that I was getting and as much respect I was getting from defences, all Joe really had to do is prove that we can drive the ball down the field and score, and he did that.
Quite frankly, he outplayed Tom Brady the last game."
Flacco’s performance in the game consisted of catching of 22 out 36 passes, for 306 yards. He also had two touchdowns and an interception to his record, and Ray called it an impressive run.
Ray said:
"He outplayed Tom Brady, and Tom Brady - he's the trademark for a quarterback. So, Joe Flacco feeling the way he feels is only right, because he did it on a high level. He did it on the peak of his performance."
Ravens’ QB, who has lately been very quiet for some unknown reasons, in one of his earlier remarks had rated himself to be the best QB in the league. It did not surprise his teammates and coaches, at all.
Irrespective of the past season's performance, Flacco has a great chance of proving himself this season, given he is being trained and groomed by Jim Caldwell, former Indianapolis coach, who is credited for grooming players such as Peyton
Manning.
At the moment, the player is also through some uncertainty and instability over his pertaining long-term deal matter.
