2011 Arafura Games: Day three preliminary rounds, Multi-Class Swimming events 
Morning session of the third day of the 2011 Arafura Games witnessed exciting swims from Kayla Clarke, earning fastest spots in the Multi-Class swimming events.
The session included the preliminary rounds of the 100m freestyle and the 50m breast-stroke for the Girls and Boys of Multi-Class swimming category.
The first event of the session was Girl’s 100m freestyle where the multi-class champion, Kayla Clarke proved her fastest qualification into the finals by clocking a time of 1:06.30 minutes. She was followed by one of her strongest rivals, Katherine Downie,
who qualified as the second fastest swimmer, clocking a time of 1:05.69 minutes. Kara Leo of the Australian Squad secured the third fastest qualification spot, posting a time of 1:07.79 minutes.
In the meantime, Daniel Fox earned the fastest qualifying seat for the Boy’s 100m freestyle. Fox touched the wall first in a time of 59.16 seconds and was slightly ahead of Timothy Antalfy, who qualified as the second fastest swimmer with a timing of 58.73
seconds. Patrick Donachie secured third fastest qualification in the final by submitting a time of 1:02.65 minutes.
Later, Clarke and Downie presented a ferocious swim in the 50m breast-stroke in front of the arena, trying to beat each other for the fastest qualification spot. Downie out performed Clarke by posting a time of 41.81 seconds against Clarke’s 41.15 seconds
effort. Australian Squad’s Amanda Fowler occupied the third fastest qualification spot, clocking a time of 42.81 seconds.
The last event of the session was Boy’s 50m breast-stroke event, where the ADF Paralympic’s Clint Vardy paved his way for the fastest qualification into the finals by touching home in a top time of 42.03 seconds. Thailand’s Schmai Doungkaew and Australian
Squad’s Richard Elliason followed him into the finals, submitting a time of 1:02.06 and 1:03.16 minutes for the second and third fastest qualification.
The session concluded after its final event whereas these swimmers will compete with each other in a head-to-head battle to secure their podium finishes. The championship will continue for one more day to complete all the swimming events in multi-class category.
