2011 Asian Cup: North Korea left to regret missed penalty kick as they draw game with U.A.E
North Korea took on UAE in a game, which they felt they should have won, had it not been for a missed penalty by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hong-Yong-Jo-c16295. As a result of the missed kick by the Korean player, the game ended in the first goalless draw of the 2011 Asian Cup group stage
matches.
Nonetheless, despite having missed that glorious opportunity, it was the Koreans, who were happier of the two, once the referee blew the final whistle. This was because UAE, quite simply, dominated the proceedings of the match for the most part.
Had the Koreans capitalized on the spot kick that was awarded to them on the 6th minute, things could have potentially been very different in the game. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamdan-Al-Kamali-c15615 went on to bring down Jong Tae-Se in the area early on in the game and Hong
stepped up to take the spot-kick. Despite his effort being hit with decent pace, it managed to strike the crossbar and rebound out of bounds, to keep the game level at nil all.
After that early scare, UAE went on to dominate the game for the first 45 minutes and gave the Koreans a run for their money. UAE had their best chance of the first half fall to the feet of Ahmed Khalil, on the 17th minute mark just outside the
area, and the attacker’s shot despite being hit with venomous pace, managed to hit the Korean keeper's leg and bounced to safety.
As a result of that missed chance, the first half ended as a goalless draw with UAE frustrated despite having dominated. The second half was a rather dull affair compared to the first 45, but it was once again lined with ample efforts by UAE on the Korean
goal.
However, despite all their might and attacking threat on the night, UAE just couldn't seem to provide that killer blow in front of the Korean goal and the match eventually ended with the score line reading nil all.
