2011 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championships - Day 2
The 2011 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship is underway in Indonesia with 12 of the best Asian men’s volleyball club teams participating int he event. The tournament is scheduled to complete its run from July 23 to 31. Teams have been placed in two
groups where each side has six teams. Indonesia, Japan, China, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam are playing under the tag of Pool A teams, while Pool B is comprised of teams from Iran, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Turkmenistan, and Thailand.
The opening day of the tournament featured six games in both pools on Saturday, July 23. Japan, Indonesia and China emerged as winners in Pool A, while Iran, Kazakhstan, and Thailand captured their respective opening matches.
The competition entered the second day on Sunday, July 24. Japan and home team of Indonesia continued with success in the Pool A, while China lost a match on the second day of the tournament. On the other hand, defending champion Iran and Team Kazakhstan
maintained the perfect flow on the next day and won their matches. Nonetheless, Thailand dropped the second-day match.
Pool A
In the first match of second day at the 2011 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship Vietnam made a great come-back and bagged first win of the competition. They were challenged by Team Afghanistan, which collapsed in only three sets. Vietnam had lost the
opening match to Indonesia but proved its endeavour against Afghanistan in the next match. Vietnam claimed the match with big margin as scoreboard showed the final score of 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, and 25-10).
The second match brought Indonesia and Uzbekistan onto the court. Since the home team was involved in the game, a big crowd of 2,200 spectators attended the match. The Palembang sports arena echoed the encouraging slogs in the favour of Indonesian team.
In response, Team Indonesia created a chance of celebration for home fans. Uzbek Team resisted in full force but couldn’t stay in the way of killing spikes and deadly aces from Indonesian players. Hosts successfully extended the 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, and 25-17)
win over opponents.
China and Japan also crossed their ways on the second day of the tournament. Both teams had won their previous matches against different competitors on the opening day. So as many would have thought, it was hot affair. The match lasted for tiring five sets
and spectators enjoyed every bit of the match. Finally, Japanese studs made the difference and clinched success over China. They posted 3-2 (21-25, 25-18, 25-19, 21-25, and 15-13) on board to get the status of victorious team.
Pool B
Qatar bagged the first win of the competition on Sunday, July 24, while playing against Myanmar. It was the first game featured in Pool B on the second day of 2011 Asian Men’s Club Volleyball Championship. Qatar put up a good effort and built a winning score
of 3-1 (25-19, 27-29, 25-18, and 25-20).
In another match of Pool B on the second day, defending champions Iran edged out Turkmenistan in three sets. Iran performed better and claimed the match by posting 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, and 25-22). Likewise, Kazakhstan dug up success in their second match.
Kazak team defeated Thailand with a score of 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, and 25-23).
