2011 Australian Open runner up Li Na believes motherhood will end her career
Currently ranked no. 7 in the World, China's Li Na made history by becoming the first ever Chinese professional to make it through to a grand slam final.
In spite of the fact that Na faced defeat at the hands of a mother, she believes that motherhood will mark the end of her career. Li stated that if she and her husband and coach, Jiang Shan, were to start a family, she would quit the tour.

The Chinese professional is convinced that she is not strong enough to handle motherhood and a career at the same time. "I mean, if I want to have children I will retire first because I want to take -- how you say -- take care about the family. Also I'm not
strong like [Kim]. I'm not sure after I have a baby I [could] come back to the court", said Li.

Seeded no. 9 at the 2011 Australian Open, Na got off to a good start, taking the first set 6-3. However, Li seemed to have completely lost her spark shortly after winning the first set as Belgium's, Kim Clijsters, bagged the second set based upon a 6-3 win
and the deciding third set 6-3 to clinch the championship title.

Furthermore, Li stated, "I am happy [with] what I do today. So I am proud of myself. I won't tell everyone. I just go back, you know, because I don't want many media, many fans to come in. Also I just want -- February 3 is Chinese New Year -- so I want to take
total time with the family. Because always travelling the world, you really don't have time with the family, with friends. So I just want to take time for myself, not for the republic".

Earlier, Na battled it out against World no. 1, Caroline Wozniacki. of Denmark. Wozniacki took the first set 6-3 briefly before her opponent rose in terms of her performance to take the second set 7-5 and finally the third set 6-3 to make a place for herself
in the final and eliminate Caroline from the tournament.
Meanwhile, Kim Clijsters, went head-to-head with Russia's Vera Zvonareva. Kim thrashed Zvonareva 6-3 in the first set and 6-3 in the second to send the Russian home, and proceed to the finals.
