2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship: Top Nominees for World Championship - Part Two
Continued from Part 1 of the article
Ding Junhui
The 24-year-old Chinese Ace, Ding Junhui, is the current Masters champion and has been performing consistently well in the current season grabbing 25 wins out of 35 with a positive winning
rate of 71.4 percent. The Chinese Ace is definitely capable of winning the title this year as he displayed a good performance in the last ranking event of the snooker, 2011 Bank of Beijing China Open, reaching to the semi-final against Mark Selby.
He will play against the Scottish cueist, Jamie Burnett, in the first round for the first time. He has to clinch two victories to play a potential quarter-final against the man who defeated
him in the 2011 China Open semi-final, Mark Selby.
Mark Williams
The Welsh Potting Machine, Mark Williams, is famous for his log potting skills and brilliant break-building. He currently holds the German Masters title he grabbed after beating Mark Selby
in the final. The two-time world champion, Williams, has been outstanding in this season as he managed to pin himself at the top of the ranking list with his great performance in the ranking events like the UK Championship and the German Masters.
The 36-year-old Welshman failed to defend his China Open title a few days back. He lost to Stephen Lee 4-5 in the first round even after a tremendous play as he fired four century breaks
in all four frames he won but it does show that he is at the peak of his form right now which can be lethal for his opponents. Williams will meet his compatriot Ryan Day at the Crucible Theatre who is capable of dismantling his opponents. So it will be a tough
fight for Williams.
Neil Robertson
The defending champion, Neil Robertson, from Australia must be looking forward to retain the title as he is the only Australian to have grabbed the title ever. He only had his mother watching
the final match last time but this year he would have more family support at the Crucible Theatre as his father and brother will be there to buck him up.
The top seed from Cambridge is handed a tough draw against the Englishman, Judd Trump, who recently stunned everyone including Mark Selby, when he grabbed the China Open title match with
the score-line 10-8. The match between Robertson and Trump will be a thrilling display definitely and if Robertson manages to go forward, he will face Graeme Dott, the World Snooker Championship runner-up, in a potential quarter-final clash.
Judd Trump
The young English cueist, Judd Trump, showed extraordinary performance in the recently held 2011 Bank of Beijing China Open. He entered the Beijing University Students' Gymnasium as a
qualifier but played like an experienced player during the tournament. He swept the table brilliantly, grabbing easy wins over players like Shaun Murphy and Marco Fu.
He will take on the defending champion, Neil Robertson, in his first-round clash and if he shows a performance like the one he did in the China Open, he will have a potential semi-final
clash with Mark Selby again. Looking at his performance in the China Open, there is no doubt that he can grab the world title.
This time the Crucible Theatre will be flooded with awe-inspiring snooker heroes and each match will be worth watching. So let us see who bags the trophy of this prestigious tournament.
