2011 Bombardier Pacific Coast Open Player Ratings: Lucchese vs. Piaget 11-10
Lucchese took on Piaget in what was both teams first encounter of 2011 Bombardier Pacific Coast Open that took place at the Santa Barbara Polo Club. The quartet of Lucchese under the leadership of legendary striker Adolfo Cambiaso was outstanding in the
game. On the other side, Jason Crowder took the reins of Piaget foursome in the place Lolo Castagnola. Though, he delivered outstanding show in the six chukkas, they failed to win the event-opening game 11-10. Here are the player ratings for all standout performances.
Lucchese
Adolfo Cambiaso: 08/10
World’s famous polo pro Adolfo Cambiaso once again major contender of Lucchese side who drifted into dangerous places and attempted to break the defensive-line of Piaget. With the fast and furious style of play, he added five goals including penalty conversions
and rendered game-winning performance in the crucial match. He not only played at the number one position but had distribution of good passes throughout the six frames. With organised passing, he brought his team-mates into the score-net and knocked down Piaget.
Jeff Blake: 7.5/10
Blake was looking a completely different player onto the field and played vital role in the triumph with four impressive notches. He showed good strength to brush aside to deny the attacks from the opposing side at the number two position. His link-up play
had an assist to carry Lucchese to a victory over Piaget by a single goal. He constantly keeps an eye on the ball and is always a part of the action.
Julio Gracida: 06/10
Gracida though did not seem to be that impressive whether on offence or defence but added two goals in the win. He showed outstanding pace and put opponent strikers under pressure on many occasion. However, he also committed few major errors that allowed
the other side to make the game close.
John Muse: 05/10
Despite winning the game, he could be called ‘flop man’ of the match. He made awful mistakes to allow opponent attackers to make a comeback into the match. He could not add any goal on the scoreboard while conceded many penalty shots in the six-chukka of
play. He got into many confrontations but failed to down the opposite players on most of the occasions.
Piaget
Miguel Astrada: 08/10
Amazingly, Astrada was looking a different player, who showed a sharp and dynamic performance for the Piaget side. He made lengthy rides towards the downfield, was full of energy and exhibited intelligent game. He not only himself scored six times which
was the highest figure in the match but also engaged every member of the team. He was solid in passing and wonderful in the striking department.
Jason Crowder: 06/10
Crowder, the skipper of the Piaget side though accounted for two goals but couldn’t pick up where Astrada left the game. He darned a glorious first half opportunity while dribbling the opposite defenders on two occasions and added a score in the loss.
Melissa Ganzi: 5.5/10
Ganzi exhibited a solid show from the highly regarded third position and accounted for a single goal in the loss. Apart from his offensive efforts, he did not impress in the defence.
Juan Bollini: 5.5/10
Bollini also took part in the scoring but could only do it once in the six chukkas. However, he left the ball free on many occasions that allowed Lucchese player to take the possession and acquire lead.
