2011 Brisbane International: Andy Roddick to take on Kevin Anderson in the semi finals
Last year's winner and second seed Andy Roddick from the United States of America will take on Kevin Anderson in the second semi-final match of the day at the 2011 Brisbane International Men’s singles tournament, on Saturday. It
would be the pair’s career first meeting on tour. Roddick is enjoying an excellent run of form at the moment whereas Kevin, on the other hand, is playing in his third ATP Tour final four round in his career.
The 24-year-old Anderson is currently ranked number 61 in the world. The right hander posted his best result of the season last year, by reaching the semifinal round in Atlanta before eventually falling at the hands of John Isner
from the United States of America back in July.
The professional tennis ace from South Africa enters with a win loss mark of 14-8 last year. His best Grand Slam result back in 2010 was his third round appearance at the United States Open in New York. Anderson also achieved his
career highest ranking of world number 58 back in October.
He will definitely be looking to make his way into his second ATP World Tour final by beating Roddick in today’s semi final clash.
World number eight Roddick, on the other hand, comes in with a win loss record of 3-0 this season. The highest ranked American has made his way into the final four round in Brisbane on the second occasion in a row. The 28-year-old
started his tournament’s campaign by thrashing out Marinko Matosevic in straight sets, followed by another win over Alexandr Dolgopolov. Roddick advanced into the semis after getting the better of Marcos Baghdatis in two sets on Friday.
The American posted his best result last year by winning two titles in Brisbane as well as Miami. His other season highlights include runner up appearances at San Jose, Indian Wells, semi final efforts at Atlanta, Cincinnati, Basel
and quarterfinal showings at Australian Open, Memphis, Paris and Tokyo.
The right hander is in quest to advance into the 49th title battle of his career. Roddick, along with the Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer, is the only player to pick up at least a single crown in a year for ten years
in a row,  on tour.
Therefore, it should be just another straight set win for the American unless Anderson plays the match of his life to beat Roddick and advances into the final.
