Day two of China Open 2011 qualifiers saw many youngsters crash out of the tournament as the experience cueists bounced back. Several senior players sparked their cues and dribbled into the third phase of the tournament’s qualifying stage. A total of 16
matches were played in three sessions, morning (10am), afternoon (2pm) and evening session (7pm). The most exciting and thrilling match of the day was played between young promising Englishman, Jack Lisowski and 2006 IBSA World Champion gold medallist, Kurt
Maflin of Norway.
The match between Lisowski and Maflin was a thrilling affair as each player struggled hard to gain the lead during the match, but the Norwegian succeeded to clinch a 1-0 lead. Lisowski capitalised hitting a 116 to level the score 1-1. The 27-year-old Maflin
led 3-2 before the interval with classy breaks of 95 and 115 while Lisowski, in his two-frame wins, fired two centuries of 116 and 106.
After the interval, Lisowski got a 3-5 lead which was equalised by the Norwegian in the next frame when he fired his second century break of 140, the highest break of the qualifiers so far, to force a decider. In the decider frame, a fine clearance of 76
