2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 8 kicks-off at Andalucia in Almeria, Spain – Sailing news
Penultimate act of 2011 Extreme Sailing Series will begin at the region of Andalucia in Almeria, Spain, on October 12, with the top Extreme 40 boats on Andalucian waters. All participants have reached the racing venue to take part in the event. The eighth
act event will be covered online by WebCam for live stream during the races.
The competition will be featuring a new Extreme 40 yacht, Team TILT, which will be skippered by Swiss multihull sailor, Alex Schneiter. Other crew members are tactician, Boet Brinkgreve, trimmer, Charles Favre and bowman, Nicolas Heintz.
Another addition to the event will be Beijing Olympic gold medallist, Anton Paz, who will be joining Team Extreme as a trimmer. Paz holds an impressive sail record in his career. He is a close sailing companion of Team Extreme skipper and Tornado Olympic
gold medallist, Roland Gaebler.
October 12 is Spain’s National Holiday and the port of Almeria is expected to be filled with lots of sailing fans. As far as the forecast is concerned, Almeria will provide sailors with ideal winds to have a superb sail. According to the current standings
of 2011 Extreme Sailing Series, France’s Groupe Edmond de Rothschild is leading the fleet with 61 points.
