2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth World Championship takes centre stage in Turkey - Volleyball
Friday, August 12, will be when the world’s under-19 girls’ teams are going to take centre stage in Turkey as the 2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth World Championship is scheduled to run from August 12 to 21. A total of sixteen teams from all five continents of the
world have headed toward the Turkish city of Ankara in order to enjoy the spotlight. Teams from Algeria, hosts Turkey, Poland, Egypt, Argentina, China, Thailand, Germany, Serbia, Mexico, Slovakia, Puerto Rico, Italy, Japan, United States, and Brazil qualified
for this edition of the championship.
Initially the participants of the campaign have been divided into four pools. The pool composition of 2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth World Championship is as follows:
Pool A – Poland, Turkey, Algeria, and Egypt Pool B – Slovakia, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico Pool C – Serbia, Puerto Rico, China, and United States Pool D – Italy, Japan, Germany, and Thailand
The town of Nakhonratchasima in Thailand hosted the last FIVB Girls’ Youth World Championship in 2009 with the same number of teams. Brazil worked out the gold-medal win by defeating their Serbian competitors. The Belgian team made a historic move and enjoyed
great results after claiming the bronze medal. It was the first medal for Belgium since the beginning of the biennial event. Once again, the ball will be rolling over the net with full intensity and volleyball enthusiasts from every nook and cranny of the
world will also be there to praise the nice work of players on centre court.
According to the set formula of Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB), the competition will cover its length in four segments. First round of the tournament is set to be opened today. The opening day of the tournament will feature two matches in
each pool. The newly built Baskent Volleyball Hall in TVF Sports Complex in Ankara will facilitate Pool A and Pool C teams. Likewise, Pool B and D teams will play their matches at the Ankara Sports hall. First round will be continued for three consecutive
days.
Afterwards, the second round of the tournament will be followed that will promote successful teams in the semi-final round. Eventually, the top-4 teams will play in the final round.
