2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship starts – Volleyball latest
Following the successful completion of the women’s Under-20 volleyball event in Peru, the 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship is just about to start today, August 1, in Brazil. The eent is scheduled to run from August 1 to 10 and will involve a young crop of volleyball players from sixteen countries from around the world.
Teams from strong volleyball federations will be competing in the FIVB event. Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Egypt, Spain, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Puerto Rico, Russia, Serbia, Tunisia, and United States are on board to contest for volleyball supremacy.
Brazil’s beautiful capital Rio de Janeiro and city of Niteroi is the host of this year's tournament and they have attracted volleyball enthusiasts from various different locations.
The previous edition of the biennial event was staged in the Sub-continent and India was the home for volleyball action. Team Brazil defeated Cuba in the final showdown and took away the gold-medal. Argentinean squad put up a great effort and settled for the bronze medal. All three of the medal holders are once again participating in the competition and it is definitely going to be a real treat for fans.
The grid of 16 teams has been divided into four pools, Pool A, Pool B, Pool C, and Pool D, where each pool has four teams. Maracanazinho Competition Hall in Rio de Janeiro will serve as the venue of the Pool A and Pool C matches. Likewise, Pool B and D will head towards the Caio Martins Hall in Niteroi.
The fixture of day-1 of the 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship are as followed:
Pool A
Pool A is comprised of teams from Brazil, Bulgaria, USA, and Japan. The first fixture of the day will feature U.S. against Bulgaria. In the second match of Pool A, the home team, Brazil, will take on Japan. This is one of the matches, which is likely to create a lot of buzz with the local fans. Scores of supporters are expected o show up for the their respective team.
Pool B
Argentina, Peru, Tunisia, and Spain made Pool B of the 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship. According to the set formula of the competition, two matches will be played in Pool B. The team clad in sky blue and white shirts will put up against Peru. On the other hand, the Spaniards will show some hard-spiking to against Tunisia later on.
Pool C
India will play against Germany in the opening match of Pool C, while Russia and Egypt will settle in the second match.
Pool D
Teams from Iran and Canada will go into a neck-to-neck fight in the first encounter of Pool D, which will be followed by match between Serbia and Belgium.
