2011 French Open: Alexandr Dolgopolov takes down Rainer Schuettler to clear the first round

World number 22, Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine, registered and easy victory over the unseeded German opponent, Rainer Schuettler in the first round of Roland Garros on Tuesday. Dolgopolov rocketed away to victory in merely 90
minutes, sealing the contest in the most assertive manner at 6-3, 6-3, 6-1, to pass into the second round of the Grand Slam event in Paris, France.
Seeded at number 21 in the tournament, the Ukrainian proved absolutely devastating for the 98th ranked Schuettler on day three of the mega event. Dolgopolov faced no real challenge from the German in contest and forced
his way to victory to register his 20th win of the running ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) season.
22-year-old Ukrainian had already defeated Schuettler in his prior encounter last year at St. Petersburg, where he outclassed the German in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, to qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament. Dolgopolov
replicated the similar feat on Tuesday afternoon when he completely blew away his opponent to eject him out of the French Open.
In the fairly one-sided contest, Dolgopolov outplayed his rival in every segment of the game to come out as the winner. He cracked in 48 winners in the contest, with Schuettler following him with a mere seven. The Ukrainian delivered
62 per cent of his first serve on target and fired 14 cracking aces towards his opponent, who replied with only three.
Dolgopolov converted seven out of his 19 break opportunities and suffered just one break point in the entire contest. His dominance prevailed throughout the contest and he dropped merely seven points on his first serve en route
to victory.
The Ukrainian wrapped up the opening two sets with identical scores of 6-3, in just 70 minutes of play. Dolgopolov stung three serve breaks to clinch the opener and then one break point proved sufficient for him to seal the second
set for hi as well. Schuettler appeared in all sorts of confusion right from the start, despite of the fact that he was participating for the 12th time in Roland Garros.
The German couldn’t withstand the furry of his strong opponent and failed to put up a decent fight. Dolgopolov keep pushing him out of the contest in the third set and finally concluded victory at 6-1 to make it to the second round
of the tournament.
He will square off against Andreas Haider-Maurer in the next matchup, as the Austrian defeated Ryan Sweeting of the United States in the opening round.
