2011 International Children’s Games in Lanarkshire
San Francisco, USA is getting ready to welcome the teams of children sports players, who will represent their nations at Children’s Games in August 2011. South and North Lanarkshire councils are taking it as a golden opportunity to promote children’s games
in USA.
International Children's Games Committee conducted convention in July 2008 and finally awarded Lanarkshire, the prospect of conducting Children’s Games 2011. To celebrate this honourable children sports event vibrantly; the whole San Francisco state has
been showing great enthusiasm.
This 2011 International Children's Games declaration for Lanarkshire has lost the hat-trick chance of UK to conduct the three consecutive IOC events. London has been chosen for next coming Olympics 2012, whereas Commonwealth games will be held in Glasgow
in 2014. It is expected that the young players who will participate in 2011 Children Games will hopefully partake in 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. So this upcoming event will be really beneficial for young players’ trainings for later mega sports events.
The 2011 Games will facilitate Lanarkshire to exhibit its young spirit and sports talents at large-scale and to share its faith on bringing positive changes in lives with an intrinsic power of sport. Lanarkshire has all potentials to boast a bright sporting
culture which can be observed through sports facilities for its local public. Lanarkshire has produced large number of sport champs in last few years.
Both North and South Lanarkshire Councils committee members are considering the 2011 Children’s Games as an outstanding opportunity to give confidence boost to their young sportsmen. According to officials, this will benefit our sports potentials from grassroots
levels. Other sector which will directly get affected from this event is health; as an event will create a platform to develop awareness on health enhancing behaviours associated with sports and recreational activities.
Management requested experienced sportsmen and interested youngsters to voluntarily join Lanarkshire Children’s Games event. Organizers are getting positive response from the public but they are still eager to register more volunteers with respect to their
interests to ensure International Children’s games event is the best ever. Volunteers will be assigned duties at all possible areas after analysing their skills, talents and previous experiences. Volunteers’ support will be required particularly during the
game play, behind the scenes to assist organizers and they will also help and guide the visitors. Volunteers who will submit application forms will be selected on the basis of their sports experiences, physical health, talent and interest written in their
registration forms. Before partaking in 2011 International Children’s Games, all volunteers will have to attend specific training sessions with respect to their roles.
International Children’s Games board has been formed and co-chaired by Jim Smith and Michael McCann. Both of the committee persons in command are Depute Leaders of the North and South Lanarkshire Councils. Event organizing officials from both councils are
going to meet in coming month to establish the composite structure required to confirm the public security. The committee will also determine the needs to transport and health and for accommodation of more than 2 thousands athletes. Board members will also
plan for conducting cultural festivals and leisure activities to entertain visitors and to promote Children Games throughout the world. The committee’s foremost agenda is to make 2011 Children’s Game event an absolute community-led practice by generating opportunities
for public in Lanarkshire to become part of the leading intercontinental games event ever held.
To promote games and developing young talent, it is expected that the schools all over the Lanarkshire will take it as a project-based learning. Lanarkshire nomination for the 2011 International Children’s Games also stressed the significance of conducting
inter-school games throughout the Lanarkshire for this mega sports event preparation. Both NHS Greater Glasgow and NHS Lanarkshire will act as main supporters of the Lanarkshire Games. They believe that the upcoming event would play significant rule in the
fighting against childhood obesity problems in Lanarkshire. Both parties are keen to work for three years to promote games culture among children and to tackle problems like obesity.
