2011 Korean Grand Prix practice sessions crucial for Narain Karthikeyan’s future – Formula 1 news
Narain Karthikeyan of Hispania Racing Team stated that the Friday practice sessions at the 2011 Korean Grand Prix are very significant for his future in the team.
The Indian, who was replaced by Daniel Riccardo ahead of the British Grand Prix earlier in the 2011 season, has been told that he will be given a seat prior to the inaugural Indian Grand Prix.
He thus wants to makes the most of the practice session and get in proper shape before the Indian race which definitely means a lot to the 34-year-old driver not only because it is the first ever race to be staged on his home soil, but also for the  emotional
aspect of the race. He cannot wait to drive in front of an enthusiastic and eager Indian supporters.
The weather in the Subcontinent region is extremely hot these days. Temperatures are soaring in this region. For Delhi where the debut race of the Indian Grand Prix is due to take place in two weeks’ time from now, temperatures varying between 30-40 degrees
Celsius have been recorded.
Temperatures in Korea are not too different and are also very demanding at this time of the year, hence Karthikeyan sees taking part in the practice sessions at Korea as a great opportunity to get ready for the tough challenge that lies ahead. He wants to
drive as many laps as he possibly can in a F1 car in Korea.
He said, “I am just trying to do loads of laps, more for the physical aspects of things. I cannot train any harder – that is about it. It should be okay. It is surprisingly hot in Delhi, the day before it was 37-degrees – so it is very, very hot right now.”
Karthikeyan realised the importance of a successful practice session more so after the Japanese Grand Prix, where he got the chance to experience the fast turns and tricky corners. Although the Suzuka circuit and the Buddh International Circuit bear no similarities
but driving in Korea would definitely add on to his experience and improve his learning curve.
This weekend’s Korean Grand Prix will be this season 16th race, and with three races still to go after that, let’s see how the teams fare.
The first practice session is scheduled for Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Korea International Circuit, Yeongam. Let’s see how Karthikeyan performs in the practice session.
