2011 Moto2 rookie Bradley Smith to test Tech3 machine at Jerez – MotoGP news
British Moto2 rider Bradley Smith will test 2012 Tech3 machine at the Jerez circuit at Spain.
Smith will start his next season preparations at the Spanish venue.
Smith told Motorcyclenews.com, “I’m excited to get the 2012 bike and see how it all pans out. We will be pushing hard on development next year with Guy now he is the technical director of Moto2, so that should be even better for us.”
The Brit added that there are several areas that need improvement and the main goal is to sort a better package for the 2012 season.
The bases for the development in 2012 are technical data collected form 2010 and 2011 seasons. Considering all the aspects, eventually the bike will be based on the feedback from Smith.
If the bike performs well then it will be easy to tune it in better way, or if it lacks the potential then it will be a trouble.
The Brit added, “We have always complained about rear grip and it is always something you are looking for. But at the end of the day when everybody is on the same engine and tyres, what makes the difference is how fast you can get off the corner.”
He added that if the traction is good, the rider can exit corner on high speed that makes him faster on the straight. The team has improved a lot since the 2011 season start but there is still some margin to cover.
Following the season finale event at Valencia, Smith was not able to take any of the laps on the new Tech3 Mistral 610 machine. Following his hampered outing, he will take his maiden ride on the new 2012 machine.
The Brit is focused to start a promising campaign for 2012 season. He is looking forward to enhance the rear end traction.
He has taken three podium finishes at Silverstone, Assen and Mugello. He had a strong pace for fighting in top six positions. He is looking forward to estimate the new 2012 Mistral 610.
The new technical director for Tech3 Moto2 squad is Guy Coulon that will help advance the technical ability of the team.
