2011 Russian National Beach Volleyball Tour announced – Volleyball news
The Russian Volleyball Federation has recently announced the schedule of 2011 Beach National Tour.
The regular beach volleyball season of Russia will be opened in the month of May. In the light of new changes, the campaign will run under the name of Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) Beach Volleyball Tour.
A total of five events have been planned for the running season. The aspiring beach volleyball duos from the member federations of EEVZA will be on board to contest their abilities. The EEVZA includes national federations of Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Lithuania,
Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, and Azerbaijan.
The EEVZA Beach competitions will be held in different member countries. The following cities will host the hot action of beach volleyball:
Anapa, Russia – May 6-9 Illichivsk, Ukraine – June 15-18 Parnu, Estonia – July 2-3 Zelenogradsk – July 28-31 Kaliningrad Region – August 12-14
Since the events will be organised with the help of various volleyball federations, the competitions will offer better rewards than the previous years. Moreover, the governing authority of EEVZA have undergone different necessary changes in the format of
the competitions.
The first event of the 2011 EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour will be staged in Russian city Anapa. A total of 24 teams will take part in competition. The Anapa Tournament will feature the country quota playoffs as the first stage of the competition. A group of
8 teams will have to go through the qualification tournament, while others will open the game in Main Draw. The tournament will feature both gender competitions with a prize money of €12,500 per gender.
Another exciting feature has been added that the foreign players will also get a chance to attend the EEVZA competitions. The Russian Volleyball Federation actually tried this formula last year, where Latvian tandem Palvins and Samoilovs outshine and claimed
the gold medal. They settled for the top honour at the Open Cup of Russia. Following the success of this formula, the EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour will also follow the same format. Moreover, the successful foreigner duos will also be awarded national ranking
points.
The 2011 EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour is likely to a huge success at the regional level. The athletes are getting ready for the thrilling competitions, while federations are busy making plans for better arrangements.
