2011 Wimbledon Puppy Derby hero Eden Star, a consistent greyhound

Many greyhounds often lose their rhythm after winning a big event, but Eden Star is not one of them. B. Draper’s charge has been performing consistently since winning last year’s Williamhill.com Puppy Derby at Wimbledon.
Since his emphatic win in the big meeting last August, the son of Top Savings has raced on a dozen occasions, suffering defeat only twice. In the first round of the Puppy Derby, Eden Star demonstrated a wonderful show to clinch a comprehensive victory.
After kicking off the proceedings from the red box, the 1-2 favourite covered the distance of 480 metres in just 28.33 seconds. Following an excellent effort, the dashing hound secured the first rank by five and a quarter lengths.
Perpetuating his good work, he ran quite nicely in the semi-final round. But, since luck was not on his side, he missed the top spot only by a short head’s distance in the third semi-final.
The hound made no mistake whatsoever in the grand finale, maintaining the highest standards of speed and stamina from pillar to post. After stepping out of the first stall, the black and white dog picked up an early pace, and put the rest of the crew under
a lot of pressure.
He ran on inside rail of the track brilliantly to get a handsome lead well before the wire. After getting in command, he did not allow anyone to spoil his party. As a result, Eden Star grabbed the top rank by one and a quarter lengths. After winning the
mega event, he travelled to Sheffield, where he ensured the first position by 9¼ lengths.
The spectators at Romford saw him clinching a couple of superb wins in September last year. Eden Star bagged another couple of triumphs at Belle Vue, before nabbing three consecutive victories at Sheffield. Eden Star recently won two races at Wimbledon in
April this year.
His track record proves his ability to produce good results in various conditions. Winning 10 of 12 races shows how dangerous hound he is. He is currently on vacation, as he was withdrawn from the Williamhill.com Derby earlier this season. Eden Star is still
young and fresh, and still has a lot to offer.
