2011 World Snooker Q School Event 1: Day Three
– Session 1 Results
The best-of-seven frames, Session 1 on Day-3 of this season’s World Snooker Q School has concluded at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
The overall results for the morning session are given below:
Anthony Parsons 4-3 Shehzad Iqbal

Shehzad Iqbal was the only the player in the session who was responsible for his own downfall, as he turned up late and was docked the first frame. Afterwards, he tried his best to pull the match with breaks of 33,
31 and 45 but there was no point, as Parsons fired a decisive break in the final frame to kill the match.
Manish Jain 1-4 Bobby Cruickshanks
Though it was an old fashioned game with no reasonable breaks, the Scottish professional Bobby Cruickshanks was able to end the Indian hopes. The Indian cueist, Jain, managed to win the first frame before his opponent
took the next four on a bounce to move into the next round. The dominant breaks in the meanwhile were 40, 45 and 37, which came up from the Scottish in the second, fourth and fifth frame, respectively.
Stephen Ellis 2-4 Gary Wilson

It was a highly impressive performance from Gary Wilson, as he showcased his excellent break-building skills to outplay his fellow countryman, Stephen Ellis. Ellis managed to win two frames with a top break of only
39. However, Wilson on the other hand knocked classy breaks of 97 and 66 in the third and sixth frame respectively to seal the victory.
Justin Astley 4-0 Najm Khan
It was a dominating performance from the Englishman, Justin Astley, as he completely whitewashed his Asian opponent, Najm Khan. Najm, who came all the way from Pakistan, had his chances but failed to capitalize on
them and was punished by the Brit, who killed the match with a top break of 93 in the second frame.
Kurt Maflin 3-4 Craig Steadman
The best performance of the session came up in the last match from Craig Steadman, as he downed the heavy favourite, Kurt Maflin, in the final deciding frame. Maflin, who recently shrugged off the likes of Jack Lisowski,
Dave Harold and Mark King in the China Open, mopped up marvellous breaks of 48, 80, 53 and 64 but it was not enough, as Steadman managed to win the frame that mattered the most; the deciding final frame.
