2011 Yonex Chinese Taipei Open: Bae Youn Joo trounces Ying Suet Tse in Women’s Singles quarter-final
Korea’s top shuttler, Bae Youn Joo stretched his winning streak as she defeated Hong Kong’s Ying Suet Tse in the Women’s Singles quarter-final of the 2011 Yonex Chinese Taipei Open, on Friday, September 9, in Chinese Taipei.
Youn Joo is the second seed in the Women’s Singles draw of the event and is currently World Number Nine. She has been playing mature and positive badminton throughout the tournament and continued her winning run against Ying Suet in the quarter-final of
the event.
The second seeded Korean worked hard and won the match in three games by taking 46 minutes in the court. She played inspiring badminton against the Hong Kong shuttler. Youn Joo lost the opening game with a tight margin but made a stunning comeback to clinch
the following both sets.
The start of this Women’s Singles quarter-final was absolutely thrilling for the shuttlers and the local crowd could not have asked for better competition as both players were playing to their maximum skills.
Both ladies were employing a variety of strokes in all areas of the court with a higher level of accuracy and perfection. The score was 20-20 when the higher ranked Youn Joo threw away a negative point and lost the set with a 20-22 margin, in 18 minutes.
Angry with the loss of the opening game, Youn Joo bounced back in the second set with a touch of aggression in her strokes. She injected maximum speed and power in her strokes to put her challenger under pressure. The second seeded Korean won the second
game with an impressive margin of 21-13, in just 13 minutes.
Youn Joo continued the same pace in the deciding set of this quarter-final fight. Ying Suet tried to break the momentum of her opponent but failed to place her strokes in the targeted areas. The Korean finished off the set without any problem with the margin
of 21-14, in just 15 minutes. This quarter-final fight ended with a 20-22, 21-13 and 21-14 score on the board.
In the semi-final, Youn Joo will take on Thailand’s Inthanon Ratchanok, who is the third seed in the Women’s Singles draw of the Taipei Open.
