2011 has been the best season for David Ferrer – Tennis News
Spanish David Ferrer has broken into top 5 once again this season and accepts that it has been one of the best seasons of his career. He stated “This season has been very good, perhaps the best of my career. I have won many games
and have played consistently. I'm happy and now I try to keep playing like this year," he said in an interview with the ATP. For Alicante, champion this year in Auckland and Acapulco finalist in Shanghai and Monte Carlo Masters tournament and Bastad and the
Conde de Godo, the key has been in the absence of physical discomfort. "When you hurt, you get more rhythm, I've been training a lot, and that is very important for my confidence.”
World No.5, Ferrer, has won two titles this year winning first ever tournament of this year in Auckland and then clinching another title in Acapulco. He defeated David Nalbandian in straight sets on hard-court at Auckland. His
second triumph was at his favourite clay-courts defeating his compatriot Nicolas Almagro in a close three-setter at Acapulco.
He managed to make it to the semi-finals of two Grand Slam tournaments, US Open and Australian Open, which is an exciting result for him considering his dismal form in the previous year. He loved playing at New York and his elongated
stay helped him to visit some of his favourite places of that state. He considers US Open to be a completely different tournament than other Grand Slams as he has some of his memorable moments attached to it.
Ferrer was talking to media representatives of ATP and further added that he loved watching two of the legends from the field of tennis, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi, battle it out at tennis courts at all levels. He further accepted
that man from Las Vegas has been his idol ever since he picked up tennis racquet and landed at tennis courts.
Spaniard also proclaimed that he had a very tough and prolonged season this year due to hectic tournaments schedule and therefore will need requirement after his last tournament, ATP World Tour Finals, this month. He wants to take
2-3 weeks off for holidays to spend time with his family and friends because he has been travelling to different continents throughout the year to play different tournaments.
He likes to make an impact in the last tournament of this year and finish the year on a high note. His fans hopes that he continues his heroics and meet the class of his compatriot former World No.1, Rafael Nadal.
