2011 will have the best Formula 1 grid ever – former world champion Sir Jackie Stewart
The 2010 Formula 1 season was a spectacle to behold as 5 drivers actively ran for the title until the very end of the season. The season was led by 5 different men throughout the season, namely Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Lewis
Hamilton, Jenson Button and finally the 2010 Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel.
After an exhilarating and dramatic 2010 Formula 1 season, the drivers will now line up for the 2011 Formula 1 season and this time, it seems that Mercedes along with Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg is going to be at the top
of their game as well. This is happening for the first time that the Formula 1 grid will contain 5 world champions and all 5 of them will be competing for the title actively.
With drivers like Mark Webber, Nico Rosberg and Robert Kubica on the grid, who have not won a title yet, things are definitely going to get even spicier. Fernando Alonso was extremely disappointed after losing the 2010 title even
though he was the favourite driver for it and was leading the drivers’ standings by 15 points over Sebastian Vettel.
3-time world champion Sir Jackie Stewart recently stated that the 2011 Formula 1 grid will be “the best ever.”
“I think it's the best field ever. Red Bull had a good car this year but right down to the last race there were four drivers battling for the championship, and there were five for most of the season really in contention,” Stewart
told the media.
He believes that this field is as strong as the ones he faced back in the early 70s and late 60s.
“Up there was a Red Bull, a Ferrari and a McLaren, and a Renault pushing and shoving, so you cannot ask for much better than that. It was a long season and it came down to the very last race. It was close racing too,” he added.
Stewart explained how Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso are different from each other and that is the reason why the 2011 Formula 1 season is going to be the vastest
and most entertaining season Formula 1 might ever see.
“These drivers are the same - all the same desire, want, focus, commitment and God-given talent that has been developed to the highest level,” said Stewart.
