  1. You are only the millionth  person to ask this question on Yahoo! Answers! http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_r...

  2. We will just have to wait and see. Back in the thirties, everyone said Churchill was full of BULLSHIT too, and look what happened!. The end of the world does not mean the end of the earth, it means the end of civilization as we know it, Hitler almost accomplished that, and sadly, others are trying as we speak!. When you flick your light switch and nothing happens, or you have to cook up the family pet for supper, you will know you are there!. Look how quick the Balkans were brought to that reality!, 2012 would be plenty of time for a war to take us apart. Though I can't imagine the Mayans seeing that coming!.

  3. its called bull sht

  4. on dec. 21st 2012 it is going to be the start of the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere.  in the southern hemisphere it will be the summer solstice.  the sun will have no apparent northward or southward motion,  at the most northern or most southern point of the ecliptic.  in short,  just a new season depending on where you live.  winter will start in chicago.

  5. This is when two stars come together in space(Brad & Angie get married), the stars form a giant pull on out lying matter(their combined income and Hollywood power gives them a grip over Hollywood), this matter becomes one object (all the rich stars have to adopt poor children), the giant object causes the stars to separate(they divorce) and the giant object causes the universe to be out of alignment(one adopted Hollywood child becomes the antichrist).

  6. On 22 December 2012 the doom sayers will find another impending disaster.

Which calendar are you using? It's 5700 something in the Jewish one. By the Islamic calendar it's 1428. There's also a 7 year math error in our calender, so it's really 2014.

The Mayan calendar supposedly stops at "Dec. 21, 2012, when the Maya's "Long Count" calendar marks the end of a 5,126-year era. "

One problem is calculating this date to our calendar. An excerpt from some discussion runs: "in which the Venus Round is cut short after 61 Venus cycles to locate a new 1 Ahau Sacred Day of Venus near an actual Venus morningstar appearance, is probably only one of many conceived by the Maya...potent Venus Round of 37,960 days...dichotomy between Lounsbury's work and Thompson's, ... correlation question...Thompson correlation of 1930 (corr# 584285), while Thompson himself revised it 2 days in 1950 (corr# 584283)."

So what will happen on this date (or has already happened, or may happen some indefinite time before or afterwards?)

"Lawrence Joseph forecasts widespread catastrophe in Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization's End. Spiritual healer Andrew Smith predicts a restoration of a "true balance between Divine Feminine and Masculine" in The Revolution of 2012: Vol. 1, The Preparation. In 2012, Daniel Pinchbeck anticipates a "change in the nature of consciousness," assisted by indigenous insights and psychedelic drug use."

    What so others say?

"For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle," says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Fla. To render Dec. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in."

As for disasters, a review of the last 40 years has these books and events predicting disaster:

1968 "Population Bomb". Too many people in the 1980s and starvation.

"Famine 1975" In that year we run out of food

"Greening of America" We all become hippies eating un-homogenized peanut butter.

"Future Shock" We'll have too many choices. (The concept of multi-tasking wasn't known)

the 1970s had a concern of a "new ice age" we should increase the greenhouse effect

"Jupiter Effect" the planets will line up and the earth will do something.

"Y2K" Points given for those that can explain "why" it was a concern.

Millennium Supposedly it was to be the end of the world. The question was"Is it 2000 or 2001?"

If you get the impression, there's a lot of disaster predictions and they sell books, you're right.

During the 1800s there were a number of movements that predicted the end of the world. People gave away everything they owned and gathered to await the end. A couple of days later, they started trying to get their stuff back. If you know anyone that's really into this, asked them for their stuff. That will give you an idea of just how much they believe.

I was bout to p*** my pants when I read all this stuff. I don't want to die at 15! There is some pretty neat information here. Also search for "before and after humans" and look at the future, it is really funny (not the end of the world though).

  8. The history channel has some pretty interesting shows about this. It's not just the Maya that predict a doomsday event in this year.

  9. We wil just have to wait and see. But Jesus will return like a thief in the night meaning no one knows when the end will be.But you can look at the trees and tell what season is coming up.

  10. basically 21 Dec 2012 is when the mayan calendar begins from the beginning again. it's when their known world (the mayans only knew the few hundred miles around them) was going to end, and start anew. no doomsday things linked to it, although a lot of people like to think they are related, they're not.

  11. the Mayan calander ends. probably the world too.

  12. something might happen, but i believe its just going to be a big change in our world.

    thats it.

    i just have a feeling.

  13. All I know is that according to the mayan calander, the world is supposed to end in Dec. 2012.  So far the Mayans have been correct about most if not all of their predictions.  I think it's pretty scary and I just hope they are wrong about this one cause I'm not ready to die yet!!!

  14. can you spell b-u-l-l-s-h-i-t?

ill admit i was pretty scared about it too but now i think its just a bunch a lies.

  15. The Mayan Long Count calendar cycle ends on December 21, 2012, the winter solstice.  At about 11 a.m. that day a very rare astronomical event occurs -- earth crosses the Galactic Equator and aligns most closely with the Black Hole recently discovered in the center of the Milky Way galaxy.

No one knows for sure what will happen since the last Long Count (5125.33 years) calendar cycle ended in August 3114 BCE, and we have no surviving written records of the civilizations which existed before than, and civilizations like Egypt, Mesopotamia, China began to arise after 3114 BCE.

Geologic, etc. records likely date the Great Flood ("Noah's flood") to 2 Long Count cycles ago, or about 8240 BCE, which is about the time Atlantis was destroyed by flood and earthquake, according to Plato, etc.

Although Earth will not be sucked into the Black Hole, that vortex is so powerful it must have some sort of impact on us, particularly electromagnetic, which makes long-dismissed predictions of pole shift now seem a possibility.  Certainly we are likely to see increasing electromagnetic and geological disturbances as we approach the Galactic Equator.  That means unusually severe storms, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, power grid problems, solar events and who knows what-all.

  16. The Mayans were advanced in math and science. Mayans astrologers accurately predict weather patterns and astrological events. They made calendars and predictions for years in advance, but only up until 2012. So, it is believed that the Mayans predicted some sort of reason for the world to end in that year. However... if the Mayans knew so much about when the world would end... why didn't they predict their own downfall?  The decline of Mayan civilization is one of the world's greatest mysteries.

The Mayans were highly advanced, but not so amazing that they should be looked to for advice on the apocalypse. If they knew some sort of secret about when the world would end, shouldn't they have unlocked smaller secrets, such as how to make television and radio? They were still performing human sacrifices! That sort of society couldn't possibly have known all of the mysteries of the universe.
