The 40-year-old Slater will be receiving his 11th ASP World Champion Award at the ceremony, making his legacy even more glorious. He has been dominating men’s surfing for two decades now and is still in as good a form as ever. It is not clear
whether he would be putting in a complete year at the latest season of the ASP World Title series, but one thing that is confirmed is that he would be returning to action at Snapper Rocks during the opening event of elite tour next week, Quiksilver Pro.
The 20-year-old Moore will also be receiving an award on Thursday for clinching the ASP Women’s World Champion title in 2011. The young Hawaiian phenom became the youngest female surfer to have claimed the honours and promises to be remain a formidable threat
to be reckoned with for years to come.
The 30-year-old Parkinson was nothing short of sensational during the 2011 season of ASP World Title series. After putting on a series of phenomenal performances in surfing spots around the world, the Australian finished just behind Slater in the final ASP
World Title standings. His accomplishment earned him the ASP World Runner-Up award that he will be collecting in Gold Coast on Thursday.
Despite the presence of surfing heavy-weights in the 2011 ASP World Tour field, the young Australian sensation Wilson managed to steal a significant amount of spotlight through his exquisite performances. The fact that he was competing in his very first
season of the elite tour hardly affected his nerves as he went against the surfers who had been his inspiration while growing up. His remarkable impact during the previous season of elite Tour earned him the ASP World Rookie of the Year award.
Fitzgibbons, who finished as ASP Women’s World Runner-up, will also be getting honoured for her outstanding performance during the last season of the women’s elite tour. She kept breathing down Moore’s neck throughout the season and remained one of the strongest
contenders for the title.
