2012 Amanora Cup: Aditi Madhav thrashes Riya Jail in final round
India’s budding shuttler Aditi Madhav Kale registered her presence in the national circuit after beating Riya Jail in the title match of Amanora Cup on Sunday, December 30, 2012.
This short-lived but hard fought tussle was staged in Pune and both native contestants kept the audience intact while piling up final figures of 21-16 and 24-22.
The young but spirited female campaigner Aditi laid foundation of her supremacy straight away I the opening game and then relished full benefits of this psychological edge in second set.
On the other hand, Riya Jail had to surrender despite of putting an honest effort in both segments of the showdown.
In first set of the match, Aditi did not give her rival enough time to get settled and launched a brisk attack.
She unleashed a flurry of well placed strokes and confounded the opposing shuttler with an unbeatable strategy.
Initially, Riya resisted but then she proved a sitting duck in next couple of rallies. She let many valuable points slip from her hands and allowed her competitor to finish first half of the set with a respectable score position.
After the mid-game break, Aditi gathered some pace and widened the gap on points table. She did not make even a single mistake and strengthened her grip in third quarter of the set.
Aditi kept on moving forward at steady pace and left her opponent far behind with a significant margin of 21-16.
This timely win boosted her confidence and she started the following game in high spirit. She was enjoying an upper hand when Riya clinched couple of vital points in row and counterbalance the situation.
Both Indian shuttlers did not allow each other to make a notable difference and remained equal until half time.
There was lot of sensation in latter part of the game as both contenders put all in their possession to achieve their respective goals.
In third quarter of the set, Riya struck hard and tipped the scale in her favour. She was in strong position to avoid a straight-set defeat but then few back-to-back mistakes triggered the collapse.
Aditi capitalised her rival’s blunders and locked the honour with an impressive knock of 24-22.
