2012 Amanora Cup: End of road for Amey Tilloo in Boys’ Singles event

India’s talented shuttler Amey Tilloo could not continue his unbeatable run in the final round of Amanora Cup and lost the title match to Abhishek Sadanand Kulkarni on December 30, 2012.
Both compatriot players locked horns in local badminton complex of Pune and their encounter remained in full swing for 36 minutes.
Amey Tilloo, who was hot favourite in this contest, failed to employ his brilliance in the game and surrendered after reading final figures of 14-21 and 14-21.
The lower ranked but spirited shuttler Abhishek performed beyond expectations and served notice of his potential with a straight-set victory.
In first set of the match, he played cautiously in the beginning and took some time to read his rival’s strategy.
Both contenders remained equal on the points table until establishing rallies but then Abhishek gathered some pace and left his challenger far behind.
He carried this flow all the way to half time and managed to pile up a respectable total. He put his opponent under huge pressure with few consecutive points and then magnified the impact by registering an indomitable figure of 11.
After the mid-game break, the young Indian shuttler showed maturity in his craft and amazed everyone with a staggering knock.
At first, he widened the gap by prevailing in couple of uninterrupted rallies and then strengthened his grip by adding some successive points in his total.
Amey Tilloo could not come out of this deficit until final moments and knelt down after reading 14-21 score on the board.
The following game was also played in similar fashion as the suppressed shuttler of previous set could not rise from the dust and knelt down tamely.
However, Abhishek did not take it easy as he played with full force and stamped his competitor in style.
He mounted pressure by ruling the court in initial stages and then doubled the trouble for his challenger by putting a mountainous figure of 11.
This huge deficit proved final blow for Amey as he could not lift this burden and fell flat on face. He kept trailing behind his rival and left this futile chase after reading 14-21 margin.
