Okay, so this 2012 "armageddon" theory has been passing through the internet forever and more people are being taken in by it via blogs, websites, youtube etc..

I want someone to give me real evidence that 2012 marks the end of the planet, I mean real evidence which gives physical prove that "armageddon" will happen on this date.

None of that "Because the Mayans said so" and don't you dare quote bible quotes to me.

Even if you don't beleive in the 2012 prophecy, feel free to give an answer, best answer gets 10 points.

  1. Dude,

Don't believe all that c**p! God isn't going to end the world, he's just going to fix it up when the time is right.

PS. The Mayans were in a time of no technology and reason. Then they probably didn't know what they were saying. :)

  2. You won't find any "real evidence" because there is none. Zero. Nada.

Scientists don't expect anything out of the ordinary to happen in the year 2012, or specifically on the date December 21, other than the solstice, which happens every year.

None of the "predicted" happenings for 2012 hold up under close scrutiny. "Planet X" and "Nibiru" simply don't exist. The Mayan calendar ends a cycle, but there were no predictions of the end of the world. The Sun doesn't line up with the galactic centre; it's 6 degrees off. No asteroids or comets are actually predicted to hit Earth.

All of this stuff was put together by sensationalists in order to promote their books and TV shows, and shamelessly promoted by the History Channel. Don't take any of it seriously!

  3. there is also a man names Nostradamus and he has a time table that he created, and reading it, it is hard to understand. But a lot of it has come true.

No one knows for sure. People have believed that the world would end in 1843 or something around there, andnin 2000. and neither of those have happened yet.

But look around. People are struggling. The air is getting worse to breathe, and it clogs the atmosphere and makes it get hotter. If we don't do something there could even be another ice age. But I really don't know. I try to find an answer to your question all the time.

You could go to the library and read up on it and see what you believe. The Nastradamus time table is on the internet, I've read it before.

People say the universe is expanding slowly, so the more it expands the more it can hold.

All this is confusing. Godd luck on this one

  4. 1. Don't underestimate the Mayans and there capabilities.

2.Nostradamus, Predicted 9/11, many more events leading to this.

    3.Only time will tell.

  5. In the immortal words of Archie Bunker.....it's "CRAPPOLA"!!!!!!!

  6. You won't get real evidence because there isn't any. You may get some general waffle and links to crank websites. I shall watch with interest for other answers, though.

  7. There is no evidence that the world will end in 2012, because it's based on nothing but paranoia and the fact that the Mayan calender ends on that date.  There was no reason given why they discontinued it, so speculation is pointless.

  8. The Myans were on crack, thats how they made their living, and someone bet them money to see if the world would end someday and the Myans bet it would end 2012.

  9. When I learned the Mayans had this date as the end of a very long cycle in their calendrical system, over ten years ago in a planetarium show I put on, I said to myself, "here we go again. As we get closer to that date, all the folks with nothing better to do or think about will be predicting the end of the world." Ho hum. Living through the need to debunk the public on the "Jupiter effect" BS several years ago also bored me. Fortunately I'm no longer in a public science ed. role. I'd just say, ignore it. Total coincidence that this people's mythology predicts a significant date in our lifetimes. When the ancient Mayans thought this up, it was just a conveniently far-off future date that their calendrical system churned out. So, I'm sure any "evidence" proffered will be fraudulent. Some folks like to make money or gain attention with this nonsense. Best to think about something more productive.

  10. i can't give you any scientific proof because there isn't any! so i'll give you the answer i give to everyone asking about 2012.

The short answer to your question is no. the world is not going to end in 2012. There is no scientific proof, or evidence for that matter. People think that the world is going to end because that’s when the mayan calendar ends. If this is why the world is going to end then we might as well say that the world is going to end on December 31 2009 because no calendars have been printed for 2010 yet. Its an absurd idea that has been shamelessly endorsed by yahoo, google, the news media, and even the history channel.

that’s the short answer. Here’s the long one:

There are a couple theories on how the world will supposedly end in 2012. I will give you examples, and shoot the ideas down for you.

The most popular idea is that planet x, is going to come to the earth and block the sunlight. First of all, it is not “the planet x” it’s “a planet x”. planet x is a generalized term that caught on a couple hundred years ago that was used to describe unknown planets of our solar system. Neptune was once a planet x. astronomers calculated that the orbital period of Uranus was affected by another object, probably a planet, that was beyond Uranus. They calculated the orbital period of this planet x, and found where it would be at a specific time. They saw the planet, and it was no longer considered planet x. it got its name- Neptune. Scientists miscalculated the orbital period of Neptune being affected by another planet, but by chance their miscalculations revealed Pluto. This icy world was also considered planet x, and was first seen in 1930. It was considered a planet until 2006 when it was demoted to a dwarf planet, and now a plutoid. Sedna, quaour, eris, and ceris were all considered planet x’s, and were eventually classified as plutoids.

Now that you know the true definition of a planet x, lets talk about the scientific improbabilities of a planet x that is going to travel all the way to the earth. First of all, I have gone to college, and received a PhD in astronomy and astrophysics and I have never heard of nibiru. According to recent data, there may be another planet larger than earth lying in the kupiter belt. this planet would have to be more than 5 light years away. So if it were to suddenly travel at light speed, the fastest possible speed an object can achieve, it would take the planet 5 years to get here. 2012 is less than 4 years away. Besides the mathematic problems, there are scientific problems too. First of all, there is no force that would make the planet travel at light speed. Second, it would have to get through the beatings of countless asteroids, and the gravitational pull of the four gas giants of the outer solar system - Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, and Jupiter. I wouldn’t be surprised if it became a moon of one of those planets on its way. Anyway, if it did get through the gas giants, it has to get through another asteroid belt, as well as mars. It will most likely be shot into outer space, or into the sun where it will burn up. If it did manage, by some miracle, to get in front of the earth, it would be in a different gravitational shell. It would be closer, which means it will orbit the sun faster than the earth, therefore it will move away from us. So that’s not going to happen.

Another theory is about the asteroid. Its going to hit earth or whatever. Here’s why it won’t work: the asteroid has to take the same path to get to the earth as planet x, but it is even smaller, and will take more of a beating. If it got through everything, it would just crash into our moon probably. If it did come to earth, the atmosphere would burn it up so much that there would probably be nothing left for it to hit earth.

All other theories are just as absurd. Nothing is going to happen in 2012, except for the same things that could happen any other year.

  11. For one thing, the Mayans did NOT say so.  Mayan astronomers left writings describing astronomical events that will be visible from Earth after the year we call 2012.  They use their calendar to date these events.  Therefore, they obviously expected neither their calendar nor the world to end.

Isaac Newton analysed the Bible for the specific purpose of finding if it gave a means of determining the end of the world.  His conclusion was that the end ofo the world could not occur before the year 2060.  He did NOT say that it would be in 2060, only that it could not be before.

The so-called sacred book of the Mayans (the Popol Vuh) has never been seen by any modern scientists.  This is probably because it does not exist.  The "original" that was brought back from the mountains by a Spanish priest was written in latin alphabet (instead of Mayan alphabet);  the only remaining "original" document is the translation written by this priest and the translation sounds a bit too much like the Bible in many places...

    Hmmmm...

This is the only source that claims that at the new age (then passage from the present Long Count to the next Long Count) may see the Mayan gods start a new creation if they are dissatisfied with the present one.

It does not say what it means to start a new creation, how the gods will decide if they are satisfied and if these gods continue to exist once the Mayans are no longer there to believe in them.

All the other doomsday "predictions" linked to 2012 are recent fabrications and, in many cases, we can even determine the source.

    None of them are believable.

So, I am with you on this one.
