2012 BWF Superseries Finals: Wang Shixian reserve right to be in Women’s Singles title match
China’s talented player Wang Shixian continued her unbeatable run in BWF Superseries Finals and earned a spot in the Women’s Singles title match on Saturday, December 15, 2012.
She unseated Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the semi-final round match that ended with concluding figures of 21-12 and 21-19.
This short-lived tussle took place in local badminton arena of Shenzhen and the native shuttler relished full benefits of home ground and crowd.
World Number five Wang Shixian laid foundation of her supremacy immediately in the beginning and maintained that upper hand all the way to final moments.
On the other hand, the Thai campaigner failed to rise on her toes and surrendered tamely in both games.
The first set of match heated up with couple of gruelling rallies as both contenders strived hard to gain an early advantage.
Initially, the Chinese female shuttler clinched three consecutive points but then Ratchanok Intanon turned the tables with five points in a row.
This neck and neck contest remained in full swing in first half of the set and both shuttlers were standing close with 11-10 margin on the board.
After the mid-game break, Wang Shixian showed her real panache and dazzled her rival with a lustrous performance.
She mounted pressure by registering 17-11 total in third quarter of the set and then capitalised this psychological edge to pocket first match point.  She bagged four out of ending five points and placed an overwhelming score of 21-12.
However, second set proved a tough trial for both players as it kept them busy on court until last shot was played.
In the beginning, Ratchanok Intanon established a respectable lead and it was felt that she will easily take this match into third set but then a strong backlash from her competitor changed the scenario.
Wang Shixian brought the contest to right balance by leveling the score at 10-10 and then made a notable difference with 15-11 margin.
The Chinese badminton queen lost focus for a short span of time but she did not allow her challenger to make best out of it.
Wang Shixian struck hard when it mattered and sealed a straight-set victory with 21-19 score on the board.
