2012 Bitburger Badminton Open: Ingo Kindervater, Johannes Schoettler become Men’s Doubles champion
Men’s Doubles partners Ingo Kindervater and Johannes Schoettler showed superb coordination and remained invincible in the final round of Bitburger Badminton Open Grand Prix Gold on Sunday, November 4, 2012.
They intercepted Chris Langridge-Peter Mills by registering a favourable result of 21-15 and 21-11 in a 37-minute tussle.
This title match was played at local badminton arena of Saarbrucken, Germany and a huge crowd assembled to support the native shuttlers.
The twosome of Ingo Kindervater and Johannes Schoettler did not disappoint their supporters and gave them a solid reason to celebrate by sealing a straight-set victory.
They established an early grip on the game and did not lose focus all the way to the final moments.
On the other hand, the British duo was no comparison to the German campaigners as they failed to pocket even a single match point.
First sign of trouble came when Chris and Peter got dazzled in the establishing rallies and let many valuable points slip from their hands.
Ingo Kindervater and Johannes Schoettler made best out of this initial lead and strengthened their grip by piling up an indomitable total of 11 before the interval.
After the mid-game break, they looked in prime touch as the opposing team remained at the lower end all the way to game point situation.
The second seeded duo Ingo Kindervater-Johannes Schoettler mounted pressure with 17-13 and then swept the table with a notable difference in 21-15 margin.
Next game proved a one-sided affair as the British pair hardly put any resistance and surrendered in a disgraceful manner.
In first half of the set, Chris and Peter showed some spark in the beginning but they could not show consistency in their performance.
Meanwhile, Ingo and Johannes established an unassailable lead with 9-3 and then widened the gap by registering 13-5 score on the board.
They unleashed a series of productive strokes and gained a ten-point advantage in third quarter of the set.
This difference proved a final blow for the British campaigners as they could not rise from the dust and knelt down after reading 11-21 margin.
This was a wrap and Ingo-Johannes reserved the right to be on top of the victory stand in this GP Gold event.
