2012 Bitburger Badminton Open: Rajiv Ouseph thrashes Scott Evans in round of eight
Men’s Singles event of Bitburger Badminton Open Grand Prix Gold got another semi-finalist when Rajiv Ouseph overpowered Scott Evans in the quarter-final round on November 2, 2012.
The British campaigner, who is third seeded player of this tournament, employed all of his brilliance and experience on the court and wrapped this showdown in just two games.
He took just 25 minutes to cast out his challenger with an overwhelming result of 21-14 and 21-12.
Rajiv Ouseph laid the foundation of his dominance straight away in the beginning of the first set and maintained an upper hand all the way to final moments.
On the other hand, the Irish shuttler failed to rise on his toes and crashed out of this GP Gold event in a disgraceful manner.
The opening game started with couple of gruelling rallies as both contenders made every effort to gain an early advantage.
However, neither of them could establish a permanent lead until 7-7 total. The story was entirely different before the announcement of a break as the British player showed elevated craft and placed an indomitable figure of 11.
Rajiv capitalised this psychological edge in later part of the game and transformed this initial advantage into an unassailable lead.
At first, he strengthened his grip by registering 16-11 margin and then magnified the impact with an impressive knock of 21-14.
This timely win boosted his confidence and he confounded the opposing shuttler with a lustrous performance in the second set.
In the first half, Rajiv played with a cautious approach and did not give his competitor even a single chance to proceed.
He gathered valuable points at steady pace and kept Scott Evans at the lower end all the way to half time.
After the mid-game break, Rajiv changed his tactics and unleashed a series of power packed strokes. This strategy yielded impressive results and he piled up a significant figure of 14-6.
He maintained this rhythm in the third quarter of the set and raised his hands as victor after putting 21-12 score on the board.
Now Rajiv will be up against Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei in the semi-final round of this tournament.
