2012 CEV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup Final round ready to start today – Volleyball news
Following the successful completion of sub-zonal and zonal phase, the CEV Continental Beach Volleyball Cup is supposed to cover the last leg of the tournament.
The final round of the CEV Continental Cup is set to begin on Wednesday, May 16 and it will produce the final results on Saturday, May 19. France will serve as host to the crucial final round of the double-gender competition. The Parc Nautique de l’Ile de
Monsieur in the city of Sevres has been selected to provide the ground for beach volleyball action.
A total of 32 teams (men’s and women’s) from 13 countries will be on board to compete for the Olympic berths. Each participating country will have two pairs in each gender category. In the men’s section, tandems from Denmark, Spain, Estonia, France, Great
Britain, Poland, Serbia, and Sweden will come into stride. Likewise, women’s duos from Bulgaria, Spain, Finland, France, Great Britain, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine will contest their skills on the centre court. However, both men’s and women’s competitions
will run parallel to each other.
The host country France will be represented by four pairs. Andy Cès/Kevin Cès and Yannick Salvetti/Fabien Dugrip will compete in the men’s competition, while French ladies Mélody Benhamou/Deborah Giaoui and Eva Hamzaoui/Laura Longuet will showcase their
tactics in the women’s tournament.
The French duo of Andy Cès and Kevin Cès will be under a lot of attention. They have collected 600 points to reach the final phase of the CEV Continental Cup. They have the support of experienced head coach Marco Solustri.
“Our coach Marco Solustri is bringing in quite a lot; we have modified the way we play and we organize our activities, so that finally we are those who make the final decisions. Since he joined us in late 2011, our results have evidently progressed. I am
happy that he will be mentoring our team also here in Sèvres, he is going to contribute some excellent tactics for all of France’s matches,” said Kevin.
The Cès brothers caught a good start of 2012 season by finishing ninth in Brasilia Open, which took place in Brazil last month. Furthermore, the French tandem also competed at the next event of SWATCH FIVB World Tour, which held in Myslowice, Poland.
In the next run, the participated in the Grand Slam tournaments in Shanghai and Beijing but could not advance to the Main Draw. Nevertheless, the home duo is pretty determined to do well in Sevres. They will have the competitive edge of playing at home and
it is likely that the team will stage better action.
Other French teams are also enjoying a good vibe and are ambitious to delight the home audience with prolific show of beach volleyball.
