2012 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Finals start tomorrow – Volleyball news
Following the successful completion of 2012 Baden Masters in Austria, which covered only women’s matches, the double gender competition of CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Finals are ready to take centre stage on Wednesday, May 30.
The Confederation European de Volleyball (CEV) has selected Dutch City Hague to play host to the thrilling volleyball competition. According to the plan, the courts will be set up at the beach of Scheveningen and venue will have the capacity to hold 3,000
spectators.
The tournament will cover its length in five days. The action will start on Wednesday and it will be rounded on next Sunday, June 3.
In the men’s division, 60 duos from different part of Europe will be on board. So far teams from Belarus, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, France, Great Britain, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Russia, Poland,
Norway, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, and Ukraine have been registered for the competition.
The women’s tournament will receive 48 tandems and it will run parallel to men’s competition.
The M&W tournaments will follow the same pattern. On the opening day, participating teams will contest their skills in the Pool Play matches. The Pool Play of the 2012 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship will span over two days (May 30-31). The opening
round will be followed by 32-team Main Draw.
The influential Main Draw will progress with single elimination bracket and it will be further divided into three rounds. In the first flight, half of the teams will be disqualified and top-16 will play in the 2nd round. Furthermore, top eight teams survive
up till the third round of Main Draw.
The Main Draw will be followed by semi-finals. Eventually, the top duos of the competition will come into stride in the final showdown of the tournament. The men’s and women’s finals will be played on Sunday, June 3, which will put an end to the campaign.
There is not much time left in the start of the tournament and participating teams are heading to Prague, the Netherlands. The local organisers are hopeful to get good audience for the matches.
