2012 Copenhagen Masters: A sheer disappointments for Rasmus Bonde, Conrad Petersen in final round
Denmark’s spirited Men’s Doubles campaigners Rasmus Bonde and Mads Conrad Petersen had a good start in Yonex Copenhagen Masters but they could not capitalise that win and surrendered in the final round on December 28, 2012.
They knelt down in front of the compatriot duo Mads Pieler Kolding-Carsten Mogensen and frittered away a golden opportunity to claim an international title.
This final match prolonged to one hour and 20 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 21-23, 21-16 and 23-21.
Rasmus Bonde and Conrad Petersen displayed unbeatable craft in the opening game and bagged a vital match point but the lack of finishing skills hit them hard in the following games.
Meanwhile, the other Danish team showed an elevated craft and secured top spot on the victory stand.
In first set of the match, both pairs employed an aggressive approach and added life into the contest. They did not allow each other to establish a permanent lead and remained close on the points table.

However, Rasmus Bonde and Mads Conrad Petersen did not take much time to gain a decent advantage and hit the mark before interval.
After the mid-game break, they lost focus for short span of time which allowed their challengers to narrow the gap but then few productive strokes helped them to place a winning margin of 23-21.
Unexpectedly, they lost this touch in the following game and squandered a golden opportunity of straight-set victory.
On the other hand, Pieler Kolding and Carsten Mogensen capitalised their rivals’ blunders and brought the contest to right balance.
At first, they prevailed in the establishing rallies and mounted pressure by piling up a respectable total of 11 before the break.
They maintained a notable difference of five points in latter part of the game and wrapped this segment with 21-16 figure on the board.
The decider proved a real test for both contenders as it kept swinging between them all the way to game point situation.
Though, Rasmus Bonde and Conrad Petersen put a decent effort but luck was not on their side and they had to surrender after reading 21-23 score.
