2012 Copenhagen Masters: Joachim Fischer, Christinna Pedersen raise Mixed Doubles trophy
Mixed Doubles campaigners Joachim Fischer and Christinna Pedersen of Denmark played with great precision and claimed the crown in Yonex Copenhagen Masters on December 28, 2012.
They were up against the twosome of Sudket Prapakamol-Saralee Thoungthongkam of Thailand and their meeting lasted for 51 minutes.
World Number five Danish pair showed its brilliance in both segments of the showdown and claimed a splendid straight-set victory with 21-19 and 21-17 margin.
Joachim and Christinna did not lose grip at any stage and managed to secure top spot on the victory stand.
On the other hand, the Thai duo played with great fighting spirit but luck was not on its side. They had to face a woeful exit from this event.
In the opening set, the Danish shuttlers unleashed a series of productive strokes and clinched many valuable points in a row.
They showed consistency in their performance and ruled the court in next couple of rallies. This intensive attack helped them to get into commanding position before the one-minute break.
Joachim and Christinna finished first half of the set with an indomitable total of 11 and put the opposing team under huge pressure.
However, Sudket and Saralee did not surrender tamely as they performed tremendously well in pressure situation and served notice of their potential.
At first, they gathered some pace and caught their competitors on points table and then established a decent advantage in third quarter of the set.
The game kept swinging between both teams until final moments and this cliff-hanging set ended when the native shuttlers placed a tight yet decisive score of 21-19.
Joachim and Christinna capitalised this first set win and trounced their rivals also in the following game.
They maintained an upper hand from very first stroke till the last one and sealed a splendid straight-set victory.
In first half of the set, they mounted pressure by prevailing in the establishing rallies and then magnified the impact by putting a mountainous figure of 11.
This deficit proved final blow for Sudket and Saralee as they could not rise from the dust and knelt down after reading 17-21 score on the board.
