2012 Denmark Open: A main round entry for Anand Pawar in Men’s Singles event
India’s seasoned shuttler Anand Pawar employed all of his brilliance in the game and trounced Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk to ensure his presence in the main draw of Yonex Denmark Open on October 16, 2012.
This Men’s Singles encounter was part of qualifying round and the Indian campaigner sealed a straight-set victory by registering 21-19 and 21-16 margin after an exhausting effort of 40 minutes.
Though, the opposing shuttler also showed great fighting skills but luck was not on his side and he had to bid farewell to this Premier Super Series.
The battle came in full swing straight away in the opening game as both contenders strived hard to gain an early advantage in match score position.
They challenged each other in all areas of the game and their honest effort was applauded by the local badminton lovers of Odense, Denmark.
Tanongsak, who belongs to Thailand, took a great start and gathered four consecutive points in no time. He dominated overall pace of the establishing rallies and kept his rival under control in most part of the game.
He made some fatal mistakes after 6-3 and allowed his competitor to narrow the gap just before the interval.
After mid-game break, Tanongsak enjoyed the upper hand until 18-12 and it was felt that he will pocket first match point without any serious trouble.
However, Anand Pawar showed struck hard and turned his plans into dust. The Indian shuttler raised his chances by reaching to a respectable score position of 15-19 and then wrapped this segment of the showdown with a favourable figure of 21-19.
The following game proved a real test for both shuttlers as they had to sweat hard to achieve their respective goals.
Initially, the Thai campaigner established his grip by prevailing in couple of successive rallies. He finished first half of the set with a significant total of 11 but later part of the game did not bring much for him.
Anand Pawar caught his challenger with 11-11 margin and then left him far behind with a notable lead in 21-16 total.
Now he is subjected to a tough trial as he is scheduled to meet a higher ranked Japanese player, Sho Sasaki in main round of the Denmark Open.
