2012 Denmark Open: Mathias Boe, Carsten Mogensen make way into Men’s Doubles quarter-finals
Men’s Doubles partners Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen forged a fruitful chemistry and reserved the right to be in the quarter-finals of Yonex Denmark Open on October 18, 2012.
They stamped Chris Langridge-Peter Mills of England by registering favourable figures of 21-10 and 21-17 after an exhausting effort of 43 minutes.
The Danish pair, who is top seeded team in this Premier Super Series, proved superior by finishing this showdown in just two segments.
Meanwhile, the British campaigners looked completely confused as they failed to claim even a single match point and crashed out of the event in a disgraceful manner.
Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen laid the foundation of their supremacy straight away in the beginning and maintained the upper hand all the way to final moments.
They showed their intentions by winning first set with a significant difference of eleven points. Though, they were bit sluggish in couple of establishing rallies but then few consecutive points provided them the required momentum.
In first half of the set, both teams remained equal until 4-4 but the local duo displayed elevated craft and established a decent lead with figure of 11 before the interval.
After the one-minute break, Mathias-Carsten gained control by showing superb coordination. They made a swift progress and widened the gap with 17-8 score.
This deficit proved too heavy for Chris and Peter as they could not lift this burden and knelt down after reading 10-21 margin.
The British players brought life into the contest with an electrifying performance in the second set but luck was not on their side as they had to face a woeful defeat.
They played with right attitude and fortitude in the establishing rallies and finished first half of the set with a respectable score position of 11-8.
However, they made some unforced errors which triggered the collapse. The opposing team did not squander this opportunity and bounced back with a strong reply.
Mathias and Carsten trailed behind until 14-17 but they turned the tables with an amazing knock of 21-17.
Now their next challenge will be to surpass the Korean duo Kim Ki Jung-Kim Sa Rang en route to the semi-final round.
