2012 Denmark Open: Saina Nehwal outshines Juliane Schenk to raise Women’s Singles trophy

India’s badminton queen Saina Nehwal proved her class in Yonex Denmark Open as she thrashed Juliane Schenk and claimed the top spot on the victory stand on October 21, 2012.
This Women’s Singles title match held at Odense, Denmark and it kept both shuttlers busy on court for 35 minutes before ending with 21-17 and 21-8 margin.
World Number four Saina, who was third seeded player of this Premier Super Series, employed all of her confidence which she earned through an unbeatable run in the previous rounds.
She stretched her successful run and sealed a straight-set win over the German campaigner who was no comparison to her.
Juliane Schenk looked completely off-colour throughout this battle as she failed to pocket even a single match point.
First sign of trouble came for her when she lost in back-to-back rallies straight away in the beginning. She strived hard to counter-balance the situation but Saina proved a tough nut to crack.
The Indian female shuttler laid the foundation of her dominance with a 7-1 margin and strengthened her grip by finishing first half of the set with an indomitable total of 11.
Though, she made some mistakes in the third quarter of the set and allowed her challenger to narrow the gap but then a fine display of badminton skills tipped the scale in her favour.
The German player showed elevated craft in final stage and mounted pressure by putting an impressive figure of 17-17.
However, Saina dominated in four consecutive rallies and won first set with a significant margin of 21-17.
This timely success boosted her confidence and she played with even more conviction in the following game.
She employed interesting tactics and confounded her competitor with a fine blend of power packed strokes and masterly crafted drop net shots.
Saina started the beating after 5-4 and established an unassailable lead with 9-5 total.
She did not showed mercy in the next couple of rallies and magnified the impact with a mountainous figure of 11.
The second half of the set saw her at the top of the game as she bagged ten out of ending eleven points and claimed the crown with a striking knock of 21-8.
