  1. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN PEOPLE SAID THE WORLD WILL END LIKE IN 2000 DID IT? NO IT DIDNT SO STOP WORRYING

  2. The Mayan Calendar is just that: A calendar written out years and years into the future by the Mayans. So basically it's a record of what the Mayans believed would happen in the years to come based on their religion and on their studies of the stars. This makes the entire basis for the end of the world theory flawed not only because it was perdicted thousands of years ago but because it was really no more that what we consider to day to be "fortune-telling".

The Mayan Calendar is (obviously) different from the calendar we use today. So this leaves us with one of two possibilities: 1. The date that would be December 12th, 2012 on the Mayan Calendar has already passed, or 2. Theorists have already taken this into account and the date December 12th, 2012 is actually a "translated" equivilent of the actual Mayan date. In either case, the chances of the world ending are very unlikely.

One of the theories I've heard is that a star will pass in between the sun and the Earth, changing Earth's gravitational poles (basically, the axis on which it rotates will majorly shift), which will in turn cause major climate changes (earthquakes, droughts, floods, hurricanes, cyclones, etc.). But that is not and I repeat NOT going to happen. The major reason? There's no star ANYWHERE near us besides the sun, and no star is capable of moving fast enough to make it anywhere near us by 2012.

And even if the world was going to end, so what? There's nothing we can do about it. So why not just celebrate living instead of thinking about death all the time?

  3. you've gotten some good answers about the hooey and hysteria that the "Mayan Calender" myth has produced and I will second everyone else that says stop worrying.

Now, there are asteroids, comets and the like out there that are worrisome close but nothing identified so far that is The End.

I know I hated it when I was your age and people told me "When I was your age, sonny"........

but when I was your age we had air raid drills in school where we were taught to duck under our desks so we would not be cut to pieces by exploding windows or fried by radiation when the Russian nuclear bombs went off over Boston.....imagine growing up , having constant reinforcement that at any given moment on any given day the missiles might launch and 30 minutes later all life on the planet would be dead or dying..........or as one sage put it, 'after WW3 the survivors would envy the dead'.

Global Warming might be a catastrophe.

Near Earth comets might be a catastrophe.

Russian rockets, warmed up and ready to launch, were a certainty.

You wonder why the hippie generation did so many drugs?

I would be WAY more concerned about Iran nuking Israel, Israel retaliating and 40 % of the worlds oil in the Middle East being radioactive for 1000 years.........

    enjoy high school.

    Take risks.

    Play with the girls.

    Have fun and  a family.

If you're really worried about surviving in an uncivilized world, do 3 years in the US Marine Corps. You survive Paris Island, a meteor strike will be a day in the park.........

  4. is not true, because even with the year 2000 said so

  5. Oh, bully. The world is going down in 2012? Again?

Have a look at a few other world endings. Even the old Assyrians thought they would experience it.

  6. Dates to be aware of this year: August 8th and October 7th.

  7. No, it is all a bunch of c**p.  Don't worry about something that is BS.  Plus, even if it was true, you can't control it anyway, so why bother to worry?

  8. I remember that when I was a young man, they were predicting the end of the world in 1960, also so guy on the radio said that he was not going to die until Jesus came back and he was old.  He died in the 80's I think.

My grandmother told me that every ten years someone will be telling me that the end was near so that I should send them money for their cause.  She also told me to save my money for my self.

She also said that if I think that the little bit of hoopla that was around in the 10 year cycle just wait until the year 2000.  She said that in the year 1900 that people were killing themselves and everything because the world would end.  She said that it would be worse in the year 2000.  If you remember quite a few people did themselves in to usher in the new century.

Now we must worry about the year 2012.  After that it will be the year 2028 or some other year.

Think of the money the people made with their scare movie!  What a deal.  Speaking of money and scare tactics think about the estimated 100 million bucks that Al Gore made with his global warming scam.  I seem to remember a global cooling scam in the 1970's.

Stop worrying! & live your life.

  9. If you done nothing wrong there is nothing to fear, because I'm sure whatever force will cause it if it happens, assuming it does, can look into  your very soul.  If it happens, it is the wealthy prosperous who stand the most to lose.  If it doesn't happen its just another year.

  10. Go on with your life thinking it's not true, and if it ends up being and you die then it won't matter anymore cause you'll be dead

  11. Then stop wasting your time reading about this sort of garbage.

  12. People have been predicting the end of the world for thousands of years. All these predictions have one characteristic in common: they failed.

On the other hand, the world ends for someone every day.

  13. We're not going to die any time soon because of the doomsday 2012 thing. It's simply the poles switching positions. It could mean a change for the whole "global warming" thing but not much more than that.
